Salutations, gentlefolk,
On the one hand, we have the Middle Imperial Romans - West, # II-64a, floreat 193-324 AD; whose enemies list, however, includes: #II-47e - Marcomanni Army of Maroboduus, 9 BC-19 AD #II-47f - Suevi, 19-49 AD
and their enemies lists include #II-64a
Doth anyone wish to offer a correction / explanation / slightly used time machine ?
Yours, John Desmond
(Tried Googling 'marcomanni suevi dba'. Found nothing relevant to this question, but did get ad "Online DBA Program - Earn Your DBA at South University" and site with list of random words headlined "Protorosaurus gun-room repaying treason Phosphorus - WordPress".)

John, the only suggestion that I can offer is poor proofreading.
Cheers,

Sub-lists "e" and "f" appearing as enemies of the MIR are clearly errors.
The Marcomanni of the later wars (168 - 180 AD) would use sub-lists "g" which is what I used for the Battle of Carnuntum scenario (Great Battles of History for DBA 3.0). They would have as allies the Quadi and Sarmatae.
I find the end date for the Suevi perplexing as there is no mention of campaigns against them during the reign of Claudius.

Agreed.
The "e" sub-list however is time specific and commanded by King Maroboduus.
As much as I would like blades with my warband, the Marcommani fighting Marcus Aurelius would use the generic "g" sub-list.

While making preparations for another campaign scenario I believe I spotted the error regarding the Suevi.
II/47f - Suevi, 19 - should end at 249 AD.
... as they continue to another list.
II/72 c - Suevi, 250 - 584 AD.

I am currently researching Western Europe of the late 4th - early 5th century for new campaign scenarios. You mention of the Suevi fighting in Pannonia and this underlines the difficulty tracing a route taken by any one German tribe during the great migration.
Many tribes chose to seek destinations far apart from one another; the Suevi in Pannonia, others settling in Gaul and yet other sub-tribes moving to Spain and later absorbed by the Visigoths. The Alani and Vandals followed a similar pattern seeking different destinations.
Fascinating.
