Please let me add to the chorus of approval regarding the weekend’s extravaganza.
It was a complicated competition which was very well imagined and then brought to fruition by Paul. Many thanks to you indeed.
At first sight the prospect of playing up to fifteen games using, potentially, five different armies, was a daunting one. However, in practice, the experience proved not to be at all overwhelming. I, for one, did not suffer the headache that was inevitable after, say, two full DBM games in a day. The format allowed for quite a lot of quick games (Fast and Furious in particular). Very few games, I think, lasted the full fifty minutes. There was time to buy stuff. The real bonus was that this allowed for a lot of chat among us competitors and led to a lot of really good community spirit. It was a fun event.
I would strongly recommend the weekend to anybody, especially those who like their DBA in strong doses.
For myself I enjoyed the most amazing string of success. Something I do not anticipate ever seeing again. All I can say is that my fellow competitors were very gracious, kind and encouraging. I promise you will have no reason to have to be so good to me again.
I am particularly pleased to be this year’s holder of the Graham Fordham trophy. He was a good guy, a really enthusiastic wargamer and he is much missed. It was an honour to have the shield awarded to me by Tamara.
See you all next year if not before.
Stephen
