Fab games yesterday, had very little sleep last night. Camels featured heavily in my dreams for some reason.

Perhaps you dreamt about hammering them into the dust like last evening?

Thank you to Paul for an excellent first day at Britcon. I decided that 9 games of DBA was a little optimistic and thought a full English and 3 coffees would be excellent preparation for the afternoon.
I had six enjoyable games with the Kyrenean Greak and Radagasius' army but it wasn't my day, winning the Leo III wooden spoon prize.
All of my opponents played very well and deservedly won. I thought I played decently and my dice were good. Still, losing at DBA to the gentlemanly DBA community is a better day that nearly all other activities.

Fab weekend, def much improved score from last year. Was robbed at least twice when opponents refused to roll over despite multiple hard flanks.
Really good atmosphere and what's not to love.
All hail our glorious victor who I felt had a tremendous weekend of consistent generalship with good humour thrown in.
Def in fof next year.

Just want to say well done to the winners and thanks to paulisper for organising everything. Some great battles in a lovely atmosphere. Still getting over Baldie walking over everyone on the first day1. Well done to Mr Finn for his consistent play and resulting victories. All I will say is ‘bloody camels!’ thanks everyone. K

Thanks to all the dozen competitors this weekend who made it such a fun event and I think the new, expanded format worked really well. Congrats to Stephen Finn, whose run of 13 wins in 15 games was something else… 🏆 Summary of results to follow shortly…

What's not to love indeed about this tournament (apart from not every type of terrain featuring dunes and oases, beloved of camels)?
The Players are all Gentlemen.
Paul's formula, including extending over two days, is good.
Yesterday evening, after the first day of games, I wondered whether it might be better to calculate players' score for the whole tournament not as the average of all their scores but as the average of their best three of the five mini-tournaments (or of however many they played, or of the two if you only fought two). Today, having won the wooden spoon across the last two tournaments, I am sure that it would be! (and that bows, of which I brought a plethora to fight those two, are underpowered).
Near where I've been staying in France, at a place called Angoulins, is a seaside café/restaurant called La Madrague. The food there isn't particularly posh but everything that the chef produces is done precisely right. I thought that the tournament winner Steven Finn's play, at least in the two games I played against him, was as precise as that chef's food.

Still buzzing after a weekend of gaming, I live a simple life so dont take much.
I am sure a few peeps were discussing only remembering the stupid moves and bad rolls.
I still have image of a double overlap, flanked Cm escaping it's fate and dont get me started on the three flanked elements escape to crush my dreams on the last nail biter.
Cant capture the images of the victories though, I suppose my bad memories are someone elses good ones just a shame they wont remember them either.
The Ancient Brits loved their games and even won one, they now have Rome to face in a Lart game and hopefully a mini Hail Caesar campaign.
