A new wargames event called Steel Warriors is planned for March 25th 2023. This will be held at Magna, Sheffield Road, Templeborough, Rotherham, UK. S60 1DX. There is plenty of free parking and easy nearby access from the M1. Also the X1 bus services link Magna with Sheffield, Rotherham and Meadowhall. Further info at www.visitmagna.co.uk/getting-here/The event is still in the planning stage but there will be traders and competitions, including a 15mm DBA 3.0 competition. Details are still to be worked out but the emphasis will be on 'fun', i.e. don't expect to be playing with your own army every round. Entry fee will be a maximum of £10 but this will include show entrance as well as entry to the DBA competition. Expressions of interest now being taken. I think we'll be ok for numbers but if not it will be on a first come first served basis. (If registering interest please let me have your full name, not just your Fanaticus name, thanks.)

Thanks to those expressing interest.
We have a fairly big room so if anyone else who wants to come please let me know. There will be an official Bring and Buy at the event and catering on site including a bar! (Though all payment for food and drink is by card only)
Timings will mean we should be able to fit 6 rounds in.
Now to the theme: Well, as this will probably be the most Northern DBA competition next year what else should it be but 'Levelling Up'
Yes we've decided to take a leaf out of the government's book and give all those poor, neglected, looked down upon, disadvantaged troops types a bit of a boost.
So, do you think solid Auxilia are awful, in your view are pike just pants, or maybe you consider warband as weak as water, well here's your chance to bring them along to a tournament and give them their chance to shine.
"But hang on Mark", I hear you say, "why should I bring an army packed full of awful troop types to a tournament?"
Well for 2 reasons: 1. I did say at the top of this thread "the emphasis will be on 'fun'. (Ok so it depends on your definition of 'fun'.) However the main reason is...... 2. You won't be playing with your own army! Some other poor sap will have to make the best of it. But of course you'll have to make the best of the army they provide! And for some of the rounds we plan to mix all the armies up, so you won't even be playing against it all the time either. Plus we may well bring some of our own under performers to throw into the mix as well.
So you can bring any 15mm army on 40mm bases from any of the army list books, but with it's own set terrain and it needs to be easily transportable between rounds.
More info later.
