I think we intend to bring it back to life post the plague years.
We still have an active community in Atlanta but of course its D3H2 and A Game of Knights & Knaves but still planning to put together a GBU event.

Hi Dave
The last time I ran the Glasgow leg of Good, Bad and Ugly was 2019. I've not been in contact with Terry since then. If it was to run it again I'd need to find a venue, as the Phoenix Club still doesn't have access to the hall. I've not heard if there are any other legs taking place in Scotland, there are probably a few happening in England.
Cheers Euan

I have already run our Michigan GBnU event, in May. Too many conflicts in fall, with football and conventions and Thanksgiving, and the potential for bad weather. We had 10 players and did 3 rounds. 25/28mm. I tried some new ideas for tournaments.
TOURNAMENT RULES
1. Standard 24 Army Points, with usual limits of troops greater than 2AP. NO MORE THAN 12 POINTS OF TYPES GREATER THAN 2
2. 25-28mm figures, but any size allowed ON 60mm wide bases.
3. Base Width moves so 100p becomes 1BW. Flee = 5BW (superceed standard of 6BW)
4. Battlefield will be 3 feet square, set on of 5BW, not 6BW
5. Both players will have Stronghold. Standard size brown square will be used on to which you can but a structure. I never understood for a tournament game why one side gets it and not the other?
6. In keeping with minimizing setup advantages, each battlefield will be setup in advance with identical terrain. 7. Moreover, there will be joint set up. Battlefield will be divided by a screen and players set up at the same time. Lift the screen = surprise!
8. Loss of General or Stronghold will not result in loss of game. General loss = 2 x AP TOTAL. So lost Kn general = 4, Hero General = 8 Stronghold loss = 6. 1 Extra PiP for moves with lost general, and -1 on combat rolls if lost Stronghold.
9. 60 minute games after setup. Players will set up armies. When are all done, I will announce lift screen and begin timing. I will notify when 15 and 5 minutes are left. 60 minutes, if player still moving, will stop there, no combat. If combat has begun, play to conclusion.

You have some good ideas there Bob. I too prefer to use the Base Width movement system, as it means less micro-measuring, plus it makes the game play faster, although the excessive fleeing distance is a problem. Perhaps you might like to consider the following:-
Turn fleeing troops when they touch a table side-edge. DBA does this, and HoTT allows fleeing troops to turn 90 degrees if they would meet an obstacle...so just treat the table side-edges as an ‘obstacle’ to avoid fleeing off table.
Fleeing troops halt if they meet a table base-edge after they have already fled 3 BW. If say 2.5 BW from a base-edge, they must flee 3 BW, so will end up leaving the battlefield. If 3.5 BW from a table base-edge, they must flee at least 3 BW, but halt at the base-edge. This simulates having a larger table, 21 BW deep, although the actual table size is only 15 BW.
However, I’m not sure that both sides having a Stronghold is a good idea. Magical attacks suffer a -2 if the target is a Magician within 600p of their own Stronghold. If both sides have a Stronghold, there may be a tendency for both players to play their Magicians defensively, and this could change the basic game dynamics (making having a Magician General a safer proposition for example). On the other hand, both sides having a Stronghold would make Sneakers far more useful, even for a defending army.

Good ideas Bob here are some notes based on a bunch of BW games.
Use 4X4 tables. Fleeing 5BW is fine but we require stuff that moves 5BW to count as Fast. Normal mounted move 4BW (and Knights unless Fast move 3BW or 4BW if Fast).
Reduce Mage range to 5BW.
Defender gets Stronghold; Invader gets Camp (just like DBA 3.0 Camp). So both have something to defend but avoid problems Stevie raises. This is standard in D3H2.
Use DBA 3.0 terrain set up system to give some terrain flexibility but definitely do not allow Defender to set up terrain. Likewise use DBA 3.0 set up so you don't get players putting Elements on the edges.
Not sure screen system really needed and can lead to some distorted set ups. DBA 3.0 Defender sets up first but gets first move works well.
