I am building an army for Edward Bruce's expedition to Ireland and would like to add a generic banner to the middle of my pikes, any suggestions? Perhaps a cross of St Andrew?

The red Lion Rampant on a yellow ground would be generic, although Edward Bruce (Earl of Carrick) may have used the Carrick standard (argent, chevron gules) as a personal banner for the Irish campaign. See Earl of Carrick for a depiction. You may also find the Annals of Ulster of interest for the campaign. celt.ucc.ie//published/T100001B/index.html

Those look like the banners of the nobles at Bannockburn to me.

Very true. One podcast mentions the composition of Bruce’s army held veterans of Bannockburn. They were ‘persuaded’ to join the Irish campaign or forfeit their lands and titles.
