Salutations, gentlefolk !
Do you know of any pictures or descriptions of typical Western European chicken of the Dark Ages (0-1000 AD, roughly) ? Have some miniature chickens, want to paint them up, add to army camps. Wondering...

Really interesting reply. Great read.
I knew a farmer friend of mine who bred three legged chickens. Reason being he liked roast chicken leg, as did his wife and daughter.
I asked him how it tasted. He said he had no idea as they had never managed to catch one! 🤣
