Finished the first two elements of spear for my Later Athenian Hoplite army. I posted a picture on the Facebook DBA group site. Cheers, Paul. And they are very nice indeed. Cheers,

I have varnished 12 elements of Rus (1 x Cv, 1 x 4Bd, 8 x Sp, 2 c Ps) which should take very little time to dry but sourcing information for flags is. These Rus pre-date the reign of Vladimir and therefore would still be pagan reflecting a Scandinavian influence.

These Rus pre-date the reign of Vladimir and therefore would still be pagan reflecting a Scandinavian influence. Two banners are done, one each for the command element if mounted (Cv) and one for dismounted (4Bd). These will be packed along with allies for their first outing at the club.
Early Poles move up in the gueue and these should be done by next week.

My Philistines are inked and drying. Highlights and basing to do. Did you go for ‘a’ list, ‘b’ list , or enough figures for either (and prob sea peoples while you’re at it.....).?

Nice looking knights, vodnik.
Working on some Donnington Gauls/Gaeseti/Galatians. Energetic poses and all but 6 are 'au naturel' (except for limed hair) so most will end up as Gaeseti - 3WB. Will try to fit in a couple of 4WB for Galatians, although with 15mm bases it will be interesting.
Finished painting and glued to bases the 6 with trousers as 2 elements of 3WB.
Interestingly in looking at examples of painted Celt miniatures on the web I see a lot of ersatz tartan and vertical stripes. In Purple it notes stripes and tartans without specifying the stripe orientation. In Heath's Armies and Enemies of Rome, the illustrations of British and Gallic warrior show checks/plaid (particularly on the Britons) and horizontal stripes. Not sure what other reference the other painters are using.
So far I have gone with a combination of all of them.

Philistine's painted and varnished was going to add some coloured stripes but ended up liking the blue. Couple of days to do the bases, I am a little over excited cos they will be the first force I have done since my Mongol O&G lads.
Then it will be onto the 6mm.

I element of Donnington Gallic cavalry added to the pot. Wish I had a few more of the figures - another of the manufacturers I particularly like.
With the more elaborate individual shield designs and patterned cloaks, trousers, and tunics of the Celts I find them to be some of the most time consuming to paint. And I haven't even added the woad to the Britons yet...

Twelve elements of Early Polish (3 x Cv, 4 x Sp, 4 x 3Bw, 1 x Ps) are cleaned, based and the undercoat will be done before bedtime. They are now positioned in battle array as suggested for their army list; cavalry in centre, flanked by spearmen and bowmen extending the battle line further.
Looks impressive, but will it serve in actual play?

I took a day off yesterday so that I could drive Wf(X) and the younger of the (not so) Little Warbands to the airport After a long period dealing with my ISP tech support to try and get the National Broadband Network connected (epic fail) I settled in to some painting I finished the last Cv for my West Sudanese - they are now fully purple compliant Then I knocked off the last two elements to bring my Scots Isles (1xPs, 1x3Pk) up to code as well - Yay I rounded off the evening with 1xEl, 1x4Ax and 1x7Hd for the Later Tang Cheers

Picked up an unpainted DBA 2.2 Pictish army that included nine Essex CPA7 Fanatics that were mostly painted. So I have finished them and mounted them to bases. As the Picts are now primarily 3PK and the lone warband is a full 4WB, I am looking at these for my Caledonians and based them as 3WB.
On the subject of Caledonians, does anyone besides Essex make them? The Essex sculpts are definitely on the Pictish side of the fence.
