I love my Xyston but boy had I forgotten how much fun it is to drill their tiny little hands for their tiny little spears. An interesting definition of the word ‘fun’... 😜 P

On the plus side I have started on the Persians that I have wanted to play for ages. I am still a little sad about not buying a painted force when I had the chance.

I/52 Athenians. These took me 5 nights to complete. I'm currently rather impressed with myself. Lancashire Games figures (+ a couple of extras) with VVV shield decals.

On Friday I finished off the last of the Scrap Build Vikings and by Saturday Evening both the Ottomans and Vikings were based and ready for sale.
I took them off to the club on Sunday morning and they were both sold before we broke for lunch
The Sha To Turks and Anlgo Normans now beckon and I need them done before Friday 28th for MOAB
Cheers

Finished my Landsknecht pikemen over the weekend for the IV/13d list. Very nice Tony. Are these Museum Miniatures?

Blue Moon? It looks like a nice range.
Judging by their fancy pants and coats their good at their craft and well compensated. Not exactly great for an Italian summer, I imagine, but sometimes sacrifices must be made for the sake of fashion.

Excellent brush work on the Landsknechts - wish I had your talent for painting.

And the brushwork does justice to them, Tony.
So having gotten the Ottonian KN painted and on their bases, looked at that last ebay order and decided that as the painting on the 13 Essex MER40 heavy pike had nearly been finished I might as well wrap up 12 of them to give me three more elements of early Renaissance PK - I also then dug out 6 elements of Minifig PK obtained off ebay back in the day. With the 8 MER41 Mediums I got with the MER40, that will give some options for a later Book IV list.
At the same time prepped enough additional OMK Egyptians to give me a double DBA army for them and have an order pending with Scale Creep for more figures to bring me up to a BBDBA army.
Had washed up some Essex Alans picked up off ebay to give me another Book III army, but in looking at the HSA11 figure's cross body lance pose decided that the overhang of the lance for the leftmost figure with three on a base would be a constant nuisance for storage and on the table. So have gone to the lead pile to dig out some HSA1s to mix in and make more compact elements.
For me at least, many of the more active poses on figures create more hassle in getting them based than I care for - when a 3 figure mounted element requires several minutes of fiddling to ensure no extremities are overhanging a 40mm base then the scale creep and need for animation are out of hand. Makes one appreciate the old school TTG monoposes.
Museum order came in as well so 3 elements worth of Sarmations added to the queue - will help finish that army or see service with the Romans.

Lovely Landsknechts Tony - how would you describe the "size" of the Blue Moon figures? Larger 15's say as compared to Essex? I've looked at many of their ranges but don't want figures that push the 20mm envelope.

As a matter of fact there are some sculpting similarities in them.
