I like the dark grey armour, speaks of no nonsense professionals, shiny armour is for the parade ground.

'Brian Boru' WOW! That lot could keep you busy for a while! CarlL Yep, carlL, it will, it will ... now that I discovered my painting skills (and an easy method of batch painting). And another five armies of 1/72 range are already waiting on the shelf ... ACW, Romans and Celts, and certainly WW1 Prussians ...

I completed my impression of a 25mm Celt or Germanic sacred grove, you have to imagine it's part of a large wood. Depending on your terrain deployment ‘rules’ its possible it could be laid among woodland on tabletop. My intent was to create something that could be used as a camp or edifice in likes of DBA, DBMM, or TtS rules; or simply as an objective in a scenario style tabletop game. There are two alternative ‘camp followers’ bases to insert male priests (Druids? Shaman?) or female priest; all offering sacrifices. Additionally there is a separate unattended altar for occasion of camp followers sallying out and leaving the sacred grove unattended! Additionally I did a second and alternative 25/28mm ‘camp followers’ base starring Lucius Cossinius, Senator and commander, with bath attendant and secretary, responding to being caught bathing, but now out the bath and rousing his troops, before needing to exit the camp / villa and evading Spartacus. (Again inspired by the opening of Barry Strauss’s book “The Spartacus War”.) No prizes for guessing the provenance of the Lucius figure. Additionally some old ‘Foundry’ 25mm Dacians, re-purposed as Thracians in the Spartacus revolt, but injured and acting as ‘camp followers’ / defenders. CarlL

While I'm stuck without any figures to paint until primer arrives, I made progress on some more buildings. All printed at 10mm scale for BUAs and a camp idea for the upcoming Phokian army. Beehive houses. Celtic round houses. These paid models are so much nicer than the one freebie I found. Definitely worth supporting the good sculptors. Temple of Apollo. The columns are a little rough, but they are so tiny I'm just happy it printed clean-ish. The 15mm version lost one side of columns, so that's going to be a re-do if I feel like fighting with it.

My order from TimeCast arrived Wednesday. Thursday was spent cleaning, priming and painting the Armenian infantry. Detailing them today will complete two commands of II/28c. Two Armenian commands are ready for this Thursday game. Now, 48 Late Roman auxilia are next on the work bench. These will fill the various cohortales, numeri, citizen militia elements needed for the Bosporan, Sub-Roman British, Later Visigothic and Middle Frankish armies.
