In the introduction to DBA3 there is a line addressing the revised army lists
"Few lists necessitate changes to an existing army, but many add additional options that add to the richness of the game" - p1 para 10 in the hardcover version.
At the time the book was released I did a thorough analysis of the armies I owned and put posted this on the old Fanaticus. There would have been 106 armies in the list but to be fair that did include a couple of morph sets where I didn't have the full army but had enough elements to field all options of a selection of sublists - eg the Galatians where I had enough for a/b/c but not all at once and the Leidang (III/40cd) where I just added in the Kn and Sp elements that came in the later list. The later version of the New Kingdom Egyptian (3Bd and Libyan 3Wb was a similar object). There were a couple of others where I either had the army but either sold off or cannibalised figures over time. But nonetheless I had a substantial sample of the lists available and could determine whether or not they needed to change.
I then set about getting the figures ready to build this collection up to DBA3 code. My original plan was to keep elements so that I could field armies for both sets (there was no guarantee that there wouldn't be a significant residual DBA2 population in Oz at the time) and I also had plans to photograph my "Boneyard" of elements ejected from the DBA3 lists - about 190 elements would have gone this way. However as I set about the task, while also wanting to continue working on new armies - this plan was untenable. Where I could Boneyarded elements were either provided to existing armies to make up newly required elements or converted into scrap armies for sale so that I could subsidise my Tournament trips.
Even now I still have about 18 armies to bring up to code and that is also with discarding 10 armies because I had used some of their figures to make up another army or I never really had the army in the first place. But I persevered and as of this morning when the varnish was sprayed on the last two Pk elements of a Sumerian "Great Revolt" army I reached the 100 mark again.
What follows in subsequent posts is the list of armies I have in full and how they changed from 2.2 to 3.0
Cheers
