Which figures would you use to represent Polybian Roman allies?
Thanks, Paul

I mean the Auxilia, would they be equipped as legionaries or be like Samnites or Etruscans?

Which figures would you use to represent Polybian Roman allies? Thanks, Paul I used the Old Glory Roman Allies for mine. These are similarly equipped but have different poses and plumage.

The Auxilia could be supplied by allies, Italian tribes and a lot of other options. There is probably a long list of people, so just go initially for allied armies without them being allies, I am not sure if the DBMM lists give you that detailed information. If you have SoA Slingshot disk you should be able to get a long list. The Allied list should provide some interesting allies, the Numidians II/40 would add a Cv for the general, an LH for the largest number and an El for your choice.

Which figures would you use to represent Polybian Roman allies? Hi Paul, There are several troop types the Auxilia could represent. Common ones are Italians that are unreformed and retain their earlier fighting styles. This is especially so earlier in the period. Later, you could use Spanish, Illyrian or Ligurians. I wrote a short article on the Polybians, where I touched on their general composition which included auxilia a while back.
