Being a North Briton living North of the wall and descended from Picts and Scots, I've not had much liking for the Romans... Have you also a dislike of the Angles, the Saxons, the Norse, the Irish, the Normans.... or is it just the Romans you have it in for ?? P. The Romans...Angles and Saxons now you come to mention it.😁 I have a Norman ancestor (who emigrated here in 1066) that my wife traced when researching our family trees...I also have Norse and Scottish in the mix there too....and my wife is of Irish decent.lol

I’m a 1066 immigrant also. Bloody foreigners!. ‘Yeaahhhh.....what have the Normans ever done for us??!!’, (in a Pythonesque voice). Most of us Brits are a mongrel mix, even when we think of ourselves as eg English, Welsh, Scots, Irish. My lot had a strong Welsh link, but then you start looking at immigration into S Wales you soon find many there are effectively displaced Anglo-Saxons. Herself is from Irish stock, but the DNA Ancestry test showed 99% probability of northern Scandi Saami/Lapp roots (so possibly a result of Norse slave raiding?). Add in English colonisation of the Pale, and chaos ensues.😳

...but back to the thread - I like the Donnington Late Republican Romam casts. They’re very ‘old school’, but have a certain quaint charm. The Corvus Belli EIR are admittedly superb, mind you, as mentioned earlier in this thread.

Exactly my sentiment Cromwell,I remember one chap not too long ago posted a picture of his Impressive Roman army with Browns and firs shivering on snow covered bases...just like any Southerner would be like up here..never mind a Mediteranian.😁 This got me thinking... I've thought about the implausibility of Mediterranean clothing for Scotland before, but, should similarly Cimbri and Teutones, these Germanic tribes that famously roamed Southern France and northern Iberia, be modelled with the distinctive "ouch that must hurt" reddish sunburn of British and German tourists...?

On a more serious note, I think there is some science that Britain has had warmer periods in the past, ancient and medieval. The Celts were happy enough to fight bare chested and the Romans grew some grapes in parts. Anybody more knowledgeable to inform us?

went to my sisters house the other day she has grape vines, fig tree bearing fruit and also kiwi fruiting in her terrace road garden. Lives down road from me near Barnsley so I was amazed as it is usually raining, snowing or both.
Her husband is Italian though so fits in with the original post.

Salutations,
As half my ancestors came from County Cork and County Mayo, and the other half from Warsaw and Krakow...
Have various paints mentally labled 'Celtic at home', 'Suntanned N Europeans', 'Suntanned Mediterranean & Middle Eastern'...

Not warmer - just harder!

I note no votes for Essex, Magister Militum or Irregular though. I’d have thought that they would have more support. I’m feeling some love for FIB but hate their packaging! Paddy
