Realized I should have posted here instead of DBA 3.0:
==================================
Stop me if you've heard this one....
Been thinking about how armies can sometimes get "nerfed" by new editions of the rules, and there have been a few attempts to create points systems for DBA to build your own army, with it's own complications..
Also been reading "what to do with 4Ax" thread.
So how about this for a house rule:
For every 2 x Ps in your army, you get another one for free
For every 3 x 3/4 Ax or 3/4/8 Bw in your army, you get another one for free
For every 5 Wb in your army, you get another one for free
Round down for loss totals when calculating the army break point, so you still will generally only be able to lose 4 elements unless you've added a full 3 free elements which would prove hard
Obviously the "For every X..." numbers can be debated, probably with playtesting.
The elements I chose for 1,2,3 are arbitrary based on what I'm reading. We can debate them too..
I'm thinking this might help mitigate some of the "weaker" armies, without ruining the dynamics of the game, or doing horrible Warhammer style min/maxing of army building, and the theme would still be about the same.
You obviously wouldn't get any Bd, Sp, El, Kn etc for free as they are pretty potent, so this is to aid the armies that might need a slight boost. LH seems potent now that it's move rate is HUGE, so no freebies for the mongols..
And that's it. So Ps heavy armies would get a bonus to compensate for that fact that their Ps are going to run away a lot without killing much.
Unrelated one for Ps:
Another one was for Ps counting as a 1/2 loss when destroyed. I thought that seemed a bit too powerful, so in keeping with "The first double element to be destroyed counts as 2", we do this:
"The first Ps destroyed in your army counts as 0 elements lost".
