This was constructed in a similar manner as the early Roman marching camp, but using grape stems for walls and some Milliput. I am aware that Baueda produce a lovely model, but having constructed the Roman model I knew this should be relatively easy to build. Overview and photos can be found at the link. dbagora.blogspot.nl/2017/10/hellenistic-camp.html

Great article and I like the look of the grape fences. Need to get some grapes and build one for myself too.
Building instructions are extremely useful. Thank you very much!

The markets seem to have an abundance of grapes, so now would be the time to buy some.

Excellent!
May have a go myself.
Did you bend the two complete lengths or cut them to form the corners? Cheers
Mark
P.S Could you post the link to the Roman marching camp please?

Mark,
The corners were formed from the each length; this improved the stability of the wall when pressing Milliput to form the embankments.
Cut out a wedge section of paper support (interior side) to allow the bending to take its shape. You will need to repeat this step until you have a nice corner.
I notice the photo of the Roman marching camp is no longer available (Photobucket changes). It was posted here in January 2017. I will re-post this to the blog on Thursday with new photos and text.

Early Roman Marching Camp This had been posted to the Fanaticus Forum in January of this year, but changes in Photobucket policies made viewing the camp and its expansion no longer possible.
This has been posted to the blog with new pictures and text describing its construction.
The project made use of the ubiquitous cocktail stick, string and Milliput to construct a camp in the style of one used during the Consular period or Polybian era. dbagora.blogspot.nl/2017/10/early-roman-marching-camp.html
