As much as I have used this forum in the past, I'm afraid it is going the way of The Miniatures Page for me. Time constraints have limited my DBA 3.0 promotion activities to Facebook and Youtube. Say it isn't so Tony! Seriously, we need you on this forum. For no better reason than your videos are THE BEST example of the rules in practice. Not only that, that the way you play them are in the best spirit of warGAMING. We need more such views in the discussion, not less. If we could fix the picture issues on this site then I would love to contribute to the miniature discussion on this board (love my dark ages Splintered light minis but lots of projecting weapons!) Please stay involved, even if it's only the occasional observation. Cheers Jim PS. I may even make that 10000 mile journey to one of your tourneys one day!

Two new videos have been uploaded yesterday which are the first ones for 2020. If you haven't subscribed yet to my channel and enjoy the content, I would like to encourage you to do so. I don't make any money off of it, nor do I intend to do, but I need to get to the threshold of 1,000 subscribers so that I can do live streaming which would allow EVERY game to be filmed, not just those we have time to edit. I know that eventually I will make it there, but I would rather not wait another year to provide more frequent content. The link to my Youutube channel is below. www.youtube.com/channel/UCbRAe5rGG3lYIHXFgkrC3wQ?view_as=subscriber

Two good games Tony even if Mitch’s dice rolling leaves much to be desired!

I'm reading it that this is an illegal contact, as it isn't finishing in 'front edge to side edge with corners in contact' (p9. Moving into contact with the enemy, paragraph 1 - supported by figure 10)... The column needs to hit with the corners in contact and it can't do this due to the limitations on movement going into RGoing. Thoughts here? P.

The column is a group and when it contacts the single element it must conform to the group, not the other way around. That is what happened.

I know what happened, Tony, but my point is whether the contact is legal in the first place? Are we saying that the group just need to put front edge to side edge for it to be legal contact and cause confirming of the contacted element to occur or, as on p9 and in figure 10, that the group has to end with front corners in contact for the move to be legal and conforming then to happen?
I also think that, if we are saying the former is permissible, then the element contacted should have turned to face the column, not moved forward into contact with the Ps...

P That is how it has always been played at all of the Cons I have attended in the Eastern US. The only change that was made based on a compromise from the FAQ group was that conforming and turning to face be split up as two separate actions. In the past it had always been played here in the Eastern US that if a group contacted a single element, the single element would conform and turn to face in one action. Bob asked about the second part of your question as a comment on the actual video, and I responded to him there on the video. I would re-post it, but I am off to do some gaming and hard to link from my phone.

So pauisper - you would have moved the column into front edge to flank edge, left corner to rear corner contact. Then the contacted element would have turned to face the column, pushing the Ps back to conform into a hard flanking position on the left flank?
If so the contacted element would have ended up fighting the column and not the Ps but hard flanked by the Ps. Is that your interpretation?Either way I’m not sure it made a big difference with a 5:2 dice roll!

In this case, the column would not have been able to make the ‘legal contact’ position, as it required them to move into rough going and they didn’t have the movement allowance to do that, so would have stopped short. If, theoretically, the RGoing had not existed, and the column had made such a flank contact and the Ps had them moved up to hit the front of the contacted element, it would have stayed facing the Ps and be hard flanked by the column (p10, turning to face a flank or rear contact, first paragraph). It's got me thinking, and reading the FAQ has me pondering alternatives, so I'll post separately for the hive mind to engage with... I was thinking that the column could move into front edge contact with the element but in hindsight that wouldn’t be mutual front corner contact and hence illegal. A difficult one!

3 excellent games Tony & Mitch. Thanks! Didn’t realise Teutonics vs Danes were a matched pair let alone Tang vs Abbasids.
