Tony, your videos are a pleasure to watch.
And they make me want to play more and finish more armies for play. Plus you cover so many interesting periods, that I am constantly tempted to buy even more stuff. But I must resist.
I watch these videos while painting (listening mostly, plus the occasional glance at the screen) and they help greatly at keeping me motivated.
And your rules explanations are extremely helpful. Spotted quite a few errors in my own interpretations.
Thank you.

Thank you for the kind comments, Felixs.
Knowing that we are being "inspirational" really keep our spirits up.
All the best.

Hi Tony,
Thanks for your latest videos. These certainly corrected a misinterpretation that I had with recoils involving 15mm deep bases. I've been recoiling 1/2 a BW no matter what the depth of the infantry base. There's always something new to learn.
Cheers,

Wow, those EAPs are pretty nerfed in DBA 3. Shooting kinda sucks, and they have no real close combat ability against the Greeks. Not sure Herodotus and Theucydides had it THAT wrong about how deadly a threat the Persian Empire and its army posed to Greek hegemony over the Aegean...

Great to see that last battle. As my first two armies I painted are 1/60c and 1/52f, and the Athenians I have are almost identical an army list to the Book II Athenians you used, it was nice to see some other people battle it out with those armies. When I have played the Persians (the good guys from my perspective ), I have tried my hardest to take as long as possible to engage in close combat, as all those Greek spears are a tough nut to crack. As the Persian, I would think you want to fight with your 8Bow in bad going. If the spears come in after you, it is 2 vs 2 (even fight). Then use bowfire to sweep opposing Greek cav away from you, and try to use your cav to get around the Greeks and get at their camp (poison their water!). Your Hd can be a blocking force in a tight valley to prevent the Persian line from being surrounded. Really side support plus the requirement to shoot at a target in your TZ are two things that thoroughly nerfed the EAPs. Shooting is now less effective overall at close range than long range (dude, WTF?) and the side support lets the hoplites completely spread out and threaten the Persian flanks!

Lots of food for thought primuspilus!
Going to read your post again and try and put some of it to use.

Enjoyed watching em whilst recovering from night out with chums, think I may have had a bad bag of crisps as that is only reason I can think I felt so weak next morning.
I am def up for getting some Persians to be a match for my Greeks. I guess it is like my Russians in FOW for a realistic match put 12 bases of Greeks up against 50 odd bases of Persians.

Now you are talking serious gaming – not the wimpy 12 vs. 12 stuff. Give the Greek player an extra pint to ease his passage over the River Styx.

Tony, I am new to BDA and thoroughly enjoy your videos. The rules explanations are fantastic and the videos are very inspirational. I only wish that I could find an experienced player here in the Albany, NY area to play with.

Let me join the choir of people thanking Tony for his YouTube videos. They are really great, clear and enlightening those grey areas of DBA ruleset that usually open long debate at my club. Tony is also very fast in providing clarification in writing. Please keep going. Thanks also to Mitch and Luke that share with him the fatigue of rolling dice.

Just watched the Lombards v Magyars report - really enjoyed it and thoroughly endorse the comment that they both inform and entertain. Before watching this episode I had not realised that if the head of a column is destroyed then so is the element behind it. Thanks for pointing that out.
