If one were to build an army just for the Camp, a IV/77 Black Sheep or White Sheep Turkoman army might be it. --Gotta be a pen full of bleating sheep, right? All black or all white, of course!
That's the fun and easy part.
Now, how to build a reasonably accurate BS/WS Turkoman army? To my knowledge, no one makes a dedicated BS/WS Turkoman range. The relevant WRG & Osprey books suggest perhaps a blend of Jalayrid, Persian and/or Ottoman cavalry figures. But whaddabout the Foot? And what, if anything, is unique to BW/WS Turkomans (other than their apparent preference in sheep color)?
Who here has built this army? How did you do it?

Hi Paul you've chose an interesting army, as Jalayarid successor states your looking at a "Turkisized" mongol/Kurd/Persian/Afghan/Turkoman mix of tribes. I had to do simular research when building a Timurid army and ended up using a mix of Donnington Mongol/Timurid/Persian HC with Outpost Turkomen LH.Foot are a mix of Outpost Islamic archers(used as afghans),Donington Tajik archers and Mongol Archers(Sabadars).
I read on the Khurisan page they intend to expand their Timurid range and add Tribal Turkomans.
As for Black or White Sheep Turkomans there are more ranges available than what I had to choose from. Khurisan do very nice Timurids,Khurisanians and Turkomen ranges which could give you plenty of choice and variation for your HC types. They could also be perfect for your LH, but I do recommend the Outpost Turkomen horse archers.
The Outpost Islamic civil malitia-adath would make a perfect Hd and Tajik or Persian type archers should cover your bow elements and Khurisan,Outpost and Essex(Crusade or Eastern Medieval European ranges) have lots of choice. As for the Handgunners I've only found the Essex Ottermans in 15mm so far.
As for the camp I can recommend Irregular miniature sheep....they were perfect for my Welsh armies.🐑
Good luck with your army and let us know how they turn out.😊

Thanks for those posts, "Haardrada". They will certainly help inform a color palette to work from when (if?) I launch into this project. I see Donnington offers a DBA pack (albeit V-2) for this army, with figures from their Timurid range. Very nice looking Turkoman cavalry figure. The foot archer also seems to fit. Their suggested Horde figures, however, with womenfolk and small children, would be better as Camp Followers, however. If I go the Donnington route, I'd have to scratch around on their site to see if there more suitable Horde figures. I know you recommended Outpost for the Horde, but I have this odd, "ethnic purity" fetish. I try to build a given army all from the same manufacturer. That limits my flexibility, I know. I'll have to see which range seems to fit best: Donnington, Outpost, Irregular, Khurasan, Essex, etc.

Hi Paul, glad to help. There are more Turkemen,Turks and other figures on the Donnington Muslims,Turks,Arabs and Adalusian range which could fill out your Horde base or maybe use the camp followers being driven on by armed guards?
I chose to use Donnington as they were a lot less costly than Khurisan figures to me here in the UK.Army packs aside, what also appealed to me that donnington allow individual choice of figures and their horses so that I had very little duplication of figures. You even get 3 poses of horse, walking, trotting or canter/charging.
I was able to mix the outpost(LH) and essex(3Pk) figures into the army as they were separate elements so blended ok, but that is down to individual choice.

Well, upon further review, the Donnington Afgan Spearmen figure certainly looks the part for the Solid Horde. I know I would always opt for the Horde over the Psiloi, but Fast Bows or Solid Bows? --Probably Solid, right, so they can stay in step with the Solid Horde.

Wondering if Khurasan's just-released, Safavid Persian range open up opportunities to build out a reasonably accurate, IV/77 Black Sheep or White Sheep Turkoman army? To those more knowledgeable on such things, what are your thoughts?
