Thanks for posting the photos, Martin. Very welcome as I missed this one. Some nice looking (non-Essex) Parthians. - manufacturer, anyone? Colin I believe Steve said they were Xyston. Thanks for this, Denis. Don't think I didn't enjoy seeing your Parthians on the table, as well! Colin

A different composition from the army I used at Penarth, but broadly similar results.

Denis, in the game we played at PAWS it was only the 'cuboid of doom' which scuppered your noble Parthians. Without serious luck on my part my Gepidzz would have been steamrollered. M

Confirming that my Parthians are Xyston figures. Painted and based by Phil Hart who ran an excellent painting service but, sadly, died a couple of years ago. If you search on Hart of War painting, you can still see pics of his work including my Parthians.

Theme for the Autumn PAWS yet to be confirmed, but this might give a hint portsmouthwargames.wordpress.com/paws-dba-events/previous-themes/autumn-2010-dba-theme/

Good range of army types there from different cultures and environments. Something to suit all around a good theme.

Yes indeed...a good mix. Camels and Vikings (!!), what's not to like?? ;-). Also, my Lombards fit the bill, so could offer themselves up for slaughter.
Looks like Arnopov won it last time, under v2.2. Does anyone recall which of the armies he fielded that time? It's one of the few PAWS events without a photo album on the Yahoo site (that I can find), and I can't spot an obvious 'Arno-Army' in there......
Martin
PS- if the Normans are not included, as per previous theme in 2010, would a player using West Frankish be able to field dismpunted Milites (4Bd), which are something of a 'Norman invasion' thing ??

That was 7 years ago? Arghh!!! I used the East Frankish, max Kn IIRC. Ended up fighting loads of Italian Lombards. I also vaguely recall a one sided semi vs vikings. No idea what the final was. But under 3.0, the Tuaregs look rather tasty (good thing I have a DBM size Tuareg army :0) ) I haven't looked at the ally combos though, always a fun aspect of 3.0.

Further incentive to get on with the Andalusians I'm painting at the moment.

Regarding Allies, for this one we will be restricting allied contingents to teh same list of allowed armies as the main armies. This is to prevent some of the more unlikely combinations for teh theme (not may Pre-Feudal Scots turning up in AndalucĂa).
