Wonder if "hordes moving at Wb speed" might be an appropriate 'house-rule/amendment'.? Sounds like it might capture the spirit of the movie Zulu Dawn, at least (?). The Dervish stuff, and Anglo-Egyptian opponents, were picked up at a recent show (Penarth, home of the Welsh DBA Open). Currently they're on big (100mm wide?) bases, 12 to a base, so some reworking very much needed. Also, as pre-painted figures, I'll be needing to retouch the paint quite a bit (previous owner has used some distinctly european flesh tones in places eg), but it's a little project I've been hoping to try for a while, as the Hordes of the Empire amendments look very interesting. Will post pics sometime (2018, probably!). Martin Just use Fast Hordes from DBA 3.0. Adding a Fast type to all HOTT types is a hot idea. They increase MA by 1BW but Recoil on ties from non-Fast. Simple but adds a huge variety of potential troop types (Wood Elves now different from High Elves for instance). TomT

As part of my African themed adventure I have decided to build a couple of Hordes of the Things armies loosely based on the Adventures of Tarzan. There are still a few more types of critters I would like to represent, but these are the ones I have finished so far.
A few of the miniatures are on sabot bases allowing me to use them for skirmish games such as In Her Majesty's Name, etc.
First off is Tarzan on foot and mounted on Tantor. Tarzan is an Essex Miniatures Zulu with head swap and Tantor is by Xyston Miniatures. Tarzan, Kerchak and friends . Tarzan (as above), Kerchak is by Highlander Studios with his friends coming from Alternative Armies.
Great White Hunter and assistant, Waziri Tribesmen and Witchdoctor. Witchdoctor is by Splintered Light Miniatures. The rest of the miniatures are from Essex Miniatures Zulu and Boer range.
Some of the wildlife. Leopard by Eureka Miniatures (10mm Lioness), Ostriches and Rhinos by Irregular Miniatures, Hippo by MY Miniatures, Giraffes by Prieser, Elephants by Xyston, Crocodiles by Peter Pig and Lions from Airfix.

Who manufactures the tribesmen and Witch Doctor? Are they Blue Moon?

Thanks for the kind words Gentlemen.
Robert, the tribesmen are Essex Miniatures Zulus. I used some wicker shields from either Museum Miniatures or Tin Soldier Miniatures. I bought them so many years ago I can't recall... I do remember I bought them to use with my Scots Irish.
The Witchdoctor is from Splintered Light Miniatures.
I have gone back and edited the post identifying the manufacturer of the miniatures photographed.

I have been looking for suitable figures to use for the Kingdom of Kongo (1600's), so this may be an option to consider. Unfortunately, I am at a loss finding good African archers for the period. I may have to use Nubian or Berber archers.

We've tried playing Zulu v British with HOTT but amending them. I think we tried using the Zulu as horde but warband movement and in combat and the British infantry as Blades in combat but Shooters otherwise. Think the British were too powerful. What did you use for the British? Excuse my ignorance but is there a special version of HOTT for this era (HOTE?) Please accept my apologies for not answering your question sheffmark We played the British Infantry and Naval brigade as 'Shooters'. I hope to have another game in the coming weeks and photograph some additional units for the British over the coming days with a little luck.

I thought I would share some photos of my latest completed project - 15mm Boers.
The basing is different to the rest of my HotE collection as I plan to eventually sell this army.
Mounted Infantry including General
Sneakers
Artillery
Hero and Scout...
Camp
Custom Made Measurement Stick, Artillery Template and Die. The Measurement Stick is hinged and opens up to the Command Radius. The Template is transparent orange. It still has the backing paper attached.
The piece of writing on one half of the measurement stick is a section from the Rudyard Kipling Poem - Tommy. We aren't no thin red 'eroes, nor we aren't no blackguards too, But single men in barricks, most remarkable like you; An' if sometimes our conduck isn't all your fancy paints, Why, single men in barricks don't grow into plaster saints;

I was sorting through my Zulu and British forces and decided to take some photos and thought I might as well share those as well.
The Zulus Included in the photo are some Zulu HotT elements. Below are 2 Lurkers and a God (Hyena Demon)
Below are Magician, Hero, Behemoth (I don't know why... it sounded like a good idea at the time.), and Riders. I have some Dire-Hyenas that I plan to mount up as an element of Beast... one day...
The British Army, including a Barker Marker.
I am yet to add some of the HotT elements, such as Penny Farthing Knights and Unicycle Lancers which have been shamelessly plagiarised from the Eureka Miniatures Pax Limpopo range. The Penny Farthing and Unicycle are made but I just been slack in getting them painted. An Airship/Dirigible/Balloon will serve as an Airboat.
Below are 2 Lurkers (Volunteer and Volunteer disguised as an Ostrich) and a Behemoth (See above explanation for Zulu Behemoth...). Finally, this is just something I wanted to paint up in homage to the movie Zulu Dawn - Sgt Williams, "... and Bugler, make sure he pegs them in a straight line, towards the enemy!" I plan on replacing Pvt Story's helmeted head with a bare a head sometime soon. The piece is a depth of 50mm, the range for Shooters.
