Took advantage of the sale at Alternative at the last minute to fill in some holes - Woof! That is a lot of holes filled! Well, nangwaya, I have enough elements to build about a dozen or so Mid/Later Book IV armies, but would like to be able to make them 'stand alone.' And Alternative Armies has free international shipping on orders that total 75.00 GBP or more (after sale discount). At that point it becomes a case of seeing just what might be needed in the near to mid future to get to that level. And with the recent US postal increase for overseas mail, I am not sure how long Alternative will keep the free shipping threshold at that level. Besides, the lead pile was looking less like Everest...

Alternative order arrived yesterday - one figure short on one code, but a couple of extras for two other codes so, on balance ahead.
Got some replacements for the mules that were sent by mistake on the last order.
And as I had requested, got some 15mm minis instead of the free 28mm offered as a bonus. Ended up with 4 of the MEC4 13th C Frankish knights.
Good service.

Scale Creep Miniatures got a restock Gladiator line, so odered some Pruss/Lithuanians -
4 x FE029 Prussian/Lithuanian axemen (GM-FE029) = $18.40 4 x FE027 Prussian/Lithuanian spearmen (GM-FE027) = $18.40 3 x FE012 Prussian light cavalry (GM-FE012) = $13.80 3 x FE013 Lithuanian light cavalry (GM-FE013) = $13.80 4 x FE028 Prussian/Lithuanian archers (GM-FE028) = $18.40
Had looked at ordering direct from Fighting 15s (when Scale Creep was out of stock), but postage across the pond was going to be more than the price of the minis.
For reference, the order from Alternative had a list price of 91 GBP (before 15% discount) and postage was 25.50 GBP for a package weight of 1.1 kg. Another reason I buy in quantity when Alternative has a sale - they don't refund VAT, but offer free shipping on larger which usually comes out ahead.

Ordered up Khurasan's new Ritsuryo Japanese range. III/7b in Purple, an army that's so much more interesting than in 2.2. All those 8Bw and an artillery piece that looks kinda like an 8th Century V-1.

Salutations !
Am at stage where a couple of stands are left to finish current projects. Trying to work up enthusiasm. Anyway, considered Vikings (or Miscellaneous Dark Ages) for project after upcoming project, realized I'd got a lot of Viking figures at Silver Eagle's Museum Miniatures closeout sale.
So went thru that part of lead mountain, found had most Viking figures needed. So sent in order to MusMin's Jan sale, for couple of packs of shieldless Dark Age javelinmen for hordes, some Skythian & Saka LH which'll become border nomads for Early Tang (current project), some Arab Conquest heavy cav (project after Vikings), and a bunch of camp scenery and followers, sappers and arty crew. etc. Wanted to see new Museum line (excuse), will send pics when they arrive.
16" / 400mm of snow here yesterday. Feel like hibernating

That seems a reasonable amount of snow for sure. Good luck with the Vikings I am part way through basing up enough for a Lart force, a chum painted em for me and mighty fine they are too.

Last week the Khurusan order arrived - having initially been delivered to the house at the other cul-de-sac that mirror images my own street.
I am looking forward to creating a new and better looking Ottoman army.
Cheers

Somewhat remiss here - several purchases 'unreported over the last month+.
Back on January picked up an Essex Welsh RMA (z#73 and 10 packs of Welsh infantry off of ebay, planning on using them for an 'a' list BBDBA army. Was rather interesting to see that some cavalry that I had purchased several years ago and IDed as WA5 Welsh Light Cavalry s are WA5s based on the WA5 labeled pack in the RMA. They look enough like the picture of EGA1 Early German Medium/Heavy cavalry that I had started painting some up to use with my Early Germans. Considering that Essex (as is often the case) is supplying them as cavalry for the the Anglo-Saxon and Ostrogothic army packs, I'll probably go ahead with that plan.
Then on the 5th of this month I got in on the tail end of the Museum January sale for - RM14 Sarmatian Ally cavalry 5 packs NC10 Turcopoles( bow) 3 MD35 Mounted Crossbow(Firing) 3 MD20 French Continental Men @ Arms 1 MD18 Household Men @ Arms Shk 1 AC70 Camel Spearman 2 MD05 French Crossbowmen Mi 4 MD13 Foot Knight (Axe) 2 NC05 Cilician Armenian (Lance) 7
Will let me flesh out some armies and get a start on the Cilician Armenians. Shipped the 11th for a fairly quick turn around. Dave must have been busy cranking figures out...
Then I just received some TTG miniatures I picked up off the TMP Marketplace -
MEC 10 14th Century Knights Mounted 12 (individual figures) MEC 11 15th Century Mounted in Sallet 8 MEC 22 Mounted Crossbow 6 MEC 16 Mounted Command 5 MEC 14 Mounted Coustiller 2 MEC 13 Mounted Courser 3 ME 18 English Longbow 12 ME 20 Genoese LHI Crossbow 12 ME 21 Flemish Pike 12 ME 25 Knight with Axe 36 ME 34a Knight with Halberd in Sallet 5 ME 42 Heavily Armored Billman 6 ME 34 Knight with Sword in Sallet 15thC (PAINTED AND BASED) 3 ME-34a Knight with Halberd in Sallet (PAINTED AND BASED) 3 ME-42 Heavily Armored Billman (PAINTED AND BASED) 6 MEC16 Mounted Command (PAINTED AND BASED) 1 MEC 11 15th Century Mounted in Sallet (PAINTED AND BASED) 4 MEC 13 Mounted Courser (PAINTED AND BASED) 9 MEC 14 Mounted Coustiller (PAINTED AND BASED) 4 EXTRA SEC-08 Galatian Cavalry 6 GTC-02 Goth Heavy Cavalry 6 ME-27 Swiss HI Halberd 2 ME 34 Knight with Sword in Sallet 15thC 1 ME-41 Armoured Billman 12
Basic 'wargame standard' painting and basing on those painted and based - I will be upgrading that a bit in the near future. Not a bad addition to the collection although while I really like the bulk of the TTG Medieval and Dark Age figures, the higher codes in the Medieval range are not their best figures in terms of crisp detail. At less than half retail price (from Alternative Armies) including the shipping before the seller threw in those extras (and with 6 elements of horse and 3 of foot already painted and based) a very nice deal.

The latest order with Legio Heroica has been placed for 15th c. Russians. LH does not list Russians and Armies of the Middle Ages, vol. 2 proved useful in finding suitable Eastern bow equipped types to use.

It seems that my OCD book series collecting has limits Cheers

Ordered a twelve pack of SEL5 Seleucid Light Cavalry, from Magister Militum. I am going to use them for my Phrygian cavalry, as the figures I orginally purchased for them just don't do it for me (HOG5 Thessalian Cavalry), although I thought they did when I saw them on the website

Ordered a twelve pack of SEL5 Seleucid Light Cavalry, from Magister Militum. I am going to use them for my Phrygian cavalry... Just curious... What figures will you be using for the Fast Auxilia? I am going to use THR5 Thracian Javelinmen, to keep with the Phrygian cap look. I like the HOG10 Thracian Rhomphia and Javelinmen figures as well, but thought they were a bit much. I could have varied the figures, but I am one of those, for the most part, that likes identically posed figures on a stand. More for troop type identification than aesthetics, as I do not have the greatest vision, so uniformity helps. I think I only vary the figures for Hordes, and since I have no armies with warbands, have not had to deal with them yet.
