Picked up the Vallejo Game Color Advanced Set.
What a difference compared to the craft paint I normally use.
Better start using a wet palette, and conserve this paint.

I've just ordered some Donnington New Era figures to flesh out the Anglo-Normans that I'm about to commence. Cheers, These figures arrived yesterday. So about 5 weeks from order to delivery in Australia. Given the current state of affairs I'm not unhappy regarding the time taken. Cheers,

Can we talk?! ( really old Joan Rivers reference there). Kinda been going on a bender the past couple of months. Put in a respectable order of Khurasan miniatures that should arrive in a week or two. ( smattering of their various ranges to add to my medieval and dark ages armies). Just received a killer job lot of MIB Essex late Romans too. Super excited.

Be interesting to see your review on the Khurasan miniatures, Roland.
The T'ang spearmen I got were definitely 18mm.

Speaking of Khurasan, my son just gave me some from a project he wanted to do for another rule set but decided not to. There are a smattering of Late Imperial Rome and Patrician Rome/Early Byzantine. Also 12 vikings? So along with finishing touches on my HYW project, terrain etc, he's got me going off on a tangent researching what to do with the figures. Once I decide what to do I will order fillers from Khurasan. Very nice figures.

My son's decided his favourite era/region of history is Early Medieval/Eastern Europe, especially the Kievan Rus. Just put in an order to Irregular!

I like the Rus as they are a greater challenge to use than the more popular Early Russian list. In addition, there is an impressive list of leaders such as Vladimir, Yaroslav and Sviatoslav I.

Khurasan was _better_ than its word. Suggested order could be a couple of weeks. Instead it just arrived into my hands in a couple of days! Chapeau!

Be interesting to see your review on the Khurasan miniatures, Roland. The T'ang spearmen I got were definitely 18mm. Spent time last night and this morning sorting and reviewing my Khurasan Miniatures order. This was my first order with them and as I stated up thread their service was peerless so no worries there. I ordered a variety of mounted and infantry models, mostly medieval and late medieval ( with a smattering of Dark Age packs).
First impressions are that I like the variety of poses and appreciate the efforts at specificity for period dress and armor ( often medieval miniatures lack that attention to period details (one of my quibbles with some of the Essex line). If I were to give my biggest critique it would be both the variability in scale throughout the ranges and the fact that a number of models exhibit extreme scale creep. Some of the mounted models and a few infantry are well into the 20mm range, while others will mix somewhat well with the popular brands like Legio Heroica and Blue Moon. Infantry tend to be on the slender side ( this doesn't offend me but is noticeable when mixed with other brands). Size wise the ranges vary from Legio Heroica on the small end of the scale to being well north of Xyston on the larger end ( seriously 20mm).
I would not be afraid to build and army with Khurasan. In fact I plan to build my Otterburn era Scots Common exclusively with Khurasan, however, I think those looking to mix them with existing models in their collections will be in for a bit of a struggle.

I just ordered a batch of 28mm Picts from Footsore Miniatures. I just love their long haired hippies with spears look.

I recently completed a commission which included many Khurasan figures. Fine models and they are robust, but as they were organised in separate units the difference in height is less noticeable.

...my biggest critique [of Khurasan] would be both the variability in scale throughout the ranges and the fact that a number of models exhibit extreme scale creep. Some of the mounted models and a few infantry are well into the 20mm range... That's really disappointing. If scale-creep weren't bad enough, variability of scale within a range truly sucks. Now one has to sample every figure within a range??? Doing so only encourages and rewards these purveyors of scale-creep. What's the solution? I don't know, but the next time I receive an order with both "giants" and "children", I'm going to mail them back! --No expectation of a refund, but I'll feel better. I think. Here endeth my rant.

I don't see the Picts listed as a faction in SAGA 2, unless you are playing the Picts as the Scots....or are still playing the original version of SAGA
