Fields completed.
I have posted a few photos of the fields to the blog. dbagora.blogspot.nl/2016/12/campaign-rule-options-stratagems_17.html
I had thought about enclosing the fields with stone walls, but found this looked much better. As a modular system, the sections can be placed side by side to build a maximum size field or several smaller ones.
The material is easy to work with, but it is not robust. With constant use you may need to spray a fixative to keep the finely ground cork in place. However, with care, there should be no problem.

Feeling good today.
Just returned from the local railway shop with more than I planned for. Aside from the usual brass rod for spears and pike, bass wood for bases I also bought an orange grove.
This would certainly dress up arable terrain in normally arid locations such as Africa or the Middle East. Noch produces them and the individual trees are 4 cm high.
www.noch.com/en/product-categories/trees-bushes/classic-trees/deciduous-trees/orange-trees-3-pcs-4-cm-high-25114.html
The two boxes should produce a groove measuring 2BW x 3BW. Adding a stone wall could add a base width to the depth and width.
