The latest action will appear Thursday. The Tervingi take on the Hunnic horde.

My 4th and 5th century barbarians miss the Later Imperial Romans; the collection was sold early this year.
The miniatures were Germanic types painted with uniform colours and shields.
The OG Late Roman range is revised and an order was placed with TimeCast. Shield patterns have been selected.

The Later Imperial Roman should be here in a few weeks.
Painting has begun using excess cavalry not sold and a pack of archers. The latter will make 2 x 4Bw and 2 x Ps, the remainder, 3 x Sabir (4Bw).

This past weekend, I had time to test a few games of pike versus the longbow ( Seleucid vs. the Mauryan). All games were played with 24 elements as a single command, those not aware of the variant, follow the link in the text. The post is not a battle report but a list of observations; deployment, tactics and element capabilities. dbagora.blogspot.com/2023/10/pike-versus-longbow.html

Just read this, you certainly had better luck than I usually do. It is great when the British do manage a victory though.

Just read this, you certainly had better luck than I usually do. It is great when the British do manage a victory though. I cannot say if luck played a role. These British lack chariots, which are replaced by 4 x warband, including their general. This increases the threat to half of the Roman foot as seen in game one. The threat was countered by engaging the Roman cavalry earlier during the battle, than later. A re-match is scheduled for next week, using 24 elements.

Stange as it may seem, this was the first time the Classical Indians were used. Completed three years ago, they have never left their box since.
Next week, more games are planned against other Seleucid sub-lists, the Bactrian and the Kushan.
This time, the tactics listed in DBMM book II will be used.

The Late Romans have been shipped, should receive a notice from Customs this week.
This should give me enough time to test a few more games using the larger command.
Seleucid versus Bactria will appear tomorrow.
