It is and being all Legio Heroica you can feel the difference. Determining which armies to focus on will be uploaded tomorrow.

Exploring the Renaissance era, 1490 - 1515.
The figures have no blazons or banners to identify them as any particular army. With the exception of the 6Kn in wedge formation other cavalry are either knights (3Kn) or Coustilliers (Cv) with a few LH and infantry are all ‘solid’ bill, bow and blade.
The collection is large enough that most late medieval early Renaissance armies could be fielded and so decided to test them all out. dbagora.blogspot.com/2020/07/revisiting-renaissance-1490-1515.html

More tests are planned, but refurbishment has begun with one historical pair. Aside from additional painting (livery, weapons) flags will be added.

Interesting series of matches.
Somewhat surprised at the poor showing by the Germans. Just looking at the lists they appear to have a reasonable mix of options, although a bit light on missile troops.

Bow were even for both sides, however the Polish used their mounted to better advantage. These played similar to the Sassanid ‘a’ list which is a favourite of mine.
Future Teuton tests are planned with the Swedes, Muscovites and Lithuanian.

I have begun adding detail, highlights and flags to build the first army out of the collection, the Scots Common. When these are done I will continue with the Tudor English and add the pair with photos to the blog.

I postponed a photo session today to take advantage of another painting session of my latest project; the Danes (Union Army) and Swedes. Between painting sessions I found an abundance of images of flags and banners for both armies
and as those of the Swedes were the most attractive I began work on nine elements of foot. These are allmoge so few would have worn livery, but a lot of homespun, which is a pleasant change.
The nine elements only their lack leather items and I can begin the work on the remaining three mounted elements.

Swedish mounted are painted and now the Danes (Union Army). First are the infantry which are 4 x Sp, 2 x 3Bd, 1 x 4Cb and Ps. to be painted as two groups; one Dane the other German mercenaries. Despite the temperature, these should be done by tomorrow afternoon.

Turned up the heat this afternoon and finished four elements of Danish mounted which completes the command. Six flags are planned for each (Danes and Swedes) and I will start these tomorrow.
Further refurb will pause as I should receive an order from Legio Heroica of their new Landsknechts, artillery and mounted crossbow later this week. Landsknecht flags differed with each employer, so flags will be painted for those in French, Spanish and Imperial service.

The Danes and Swedes are now complete with their flags and banners. Therefore a photo session can take place this weekend and with a write up, this should be posted to the blog on Tuesday.
The French Ordonnance and Italian Condotta are next.
