That should not have happened. Between painting sessions, the table is cleared to make room for gameboard, terrain and figures. This would pair the Patrician Romans of Castinus against the Vandal led by Gunderic in 422 AD.
The Patrician Roman have not been used in a while and after five games, the Vandals handed them their hat and gave them the boot for good measure. This was last week.
Today, before attempting further Later Roman or Patrician head banging, I thought it better to “do the basics”; Middle Imperial Rome. Fortuna smiles again.

Interesting timeline of events, someday... The nature of warfare (amphibious) is what caught my attention. Building the army was less a problem than the gathering information, but that is now complete. A first draft of the variant rules is done, but first new terrain items need building.

The Andalusians This past weekend was spent cleaning, cutting and filing figures to transform the colonial Sudanese to Andalusians. Photo two shows the collection over the half way mark; only the heavy cavalry and skirmishing Berbers need painting while the spearmen, archers and light horse are done. dbagora.blogspot.com/2020/05/the-andalusians.html
I should have photos of the completed army posted by next week.

Very sensible - unless they get very lucky with the terrain, they need some beef in there... P

The Feudal Spanish ‘a’ list were my first choice as I thought about collecting the little kingdom of Galicia. Thinking further about the participation of Normans and Feudal French I revised my choice to the later ‘b’ list. More research is needed to determine which of the kingdoms to model this after.

48 veils Not a reference to Herod’s house party, but the number of veils added to the faces of Murabit infantry.
The colonial Ansar worked so well for the Andalusians I decided to add two commands of the Islamic Berber. Yesterday was spent cleaning, lifting weapons free of torso contact, filing and replacing swords with spears or javelins. Pleased with the results I was ready to give them an undercoat when I realized they lacked veils. Today, after two and a half hours, I now have 9 x Sp including the general’s element, 4 x archers (Ps) and 2 x javelinmen (Ps) ready to undercoat.
For an extra measure, I did the mounted general by enlarging the saddle blanket, adding tassels and a veil.

Looking good so far.
Will be interesting to see the finished Murabits.
First thought on 'b' list for kingdom would be Aragon - reds and yellows with Almughavars...
