Under 3.0 the Rajputs (III/10b) have a choice of 2 terrain types, Dry or Tropical. What would be your choice of the home terrain for the Rajputs?

(This is largely a repeat of my reply on the Facebook group.)
Dry.
First, because it seems to match the historical descriptions of their home terrain more closely. (See, for example, the article in Slingshot 248 if you can manage to find a copy.)
Second, in purely DBA terms, I don't want a lot of woods on the board blocking the shooting of my Bw and making life (and movement and combat) difficult for my mounted elements.
Third, having camels in the dunes to contend with gives your opponent something else to worry about.

Thanks for the responses. After consideration I'll go with Dry.

I've an El (Gen) but not the optional one. However, for Conquest I won't be taking any. Depending how the army fairs next weekend, it could be a starter for day 2 at CANCON next January.

Shhh!....don't tell the enemy.lol
It is a lovely army with a variety of tactical options, even without ellies its still very potent.Good luck with your games.😊
One question comes up when you read the terrain rules for dry terrain....
On page 6 in the second paragraph after the terrain chart it states "Dunes and Oasis are BAD GOING"except with elements of any type with camels." does this overule the Tactical move distance of 3BW of fast troops in "any going" (page 9)?
Pardon me if this question has surfaced before or been covered in FAQ.

How did you find the terrain worked Greg? The positive and negatives.

Keith, I tried to place 3 pieces of terrain (scrubb or rocky, and 2 dunes). I used the dunes as a defile to try channel the opposing forces into a killing ground covered by 4 3Bw. Also my Fast Bd and Bw are not slowed down by the dunes. I'll also add a Cm element to the army.

Goodness, sounds like "death in the dunes"!
In one BB game at the weekend my Palmyran opponent deployed lots of dunes for his LPIA ally to dominate. Fortunately I was able to avoid the section of the battlefield that looked like an area of quicksand to me.
