Fab day at Hammerhead as ever, superb armies to play with and excellent organisation. Did well , did mediocre and did terrible.
Thoroughly enjoyed it.
Got a few bargains from Bring and Buy as well.

A great day and slick operation by Paul and the team. A special mention for WhitefieldTom with his display of gentlemanly conduct over our rules misinterpretation - the dice gods favoured him in the end with of the day with a well deserved placing. K

Well done Paul and team for another brilliantly organised event. Congratulations to Mark for another win! Simon Agreed, though I like a little Mark baiting the fact he can repeat high performance says it all and it ain't just luck of the dice. Think I may have beat him once or twice over all the games I have played. When you do win you know you have had a good scrap. Regular readers can expect my usual highly detailed and informative report later. I had some really tense and close games that could have gone either way until I blinked and realised it was on the bad end of a 5G-0 defeat.

Thanks you Paul for another wonderful day. I thoroughly enjoyed it. I had an unusual set of games. I lost the games where I thought I played well and made mistakes in all of the games I won, mostly rescused by lucky dice rolls. All day my luck was very weird. I threw an outrangeous number of sixes but I also threw my fair share of ones. But definitely fewer ones than sixes!!! Thank you for your kind words Ken Gordon. I think the spirit of the whole DBA community is most commendable and I hope to uphold this. I really enjoyed our game including my outrageous luck PS: for anyone interested the rules misintreptation was over shooting camels in (by more the half a BW) an oasis. I read the rule forbidding shooting before deployemnt, after deployment and as I etered the oasis. But as soon as my camels were within 3BW I forgot the rule and during the next coupld of bounds lost two camel elements to shooting that was not allowed according to the rules. When we realised the mistake a turn or two later Ken very sportingly suggested we place the two camels back on the board. I refused on the basis that there are no do-overs and after the next dice roll (certainly the next pip roll) nothing should be altered on the board in such circumstances.

Let me add my thanks to Paul, and Tony and Graham. A great day of DBA in all its multifaceted glory. I certainly came away an older and wiser man! Congrats as well to Mark. Four wins in such a wild tournament is really good going. I am beginning to think he might be quite a good player!!! Roll on next year. Stephen

Same from me. Great to be back after a couple of pandemicy years away. Some remarks: 1) this tournament has more satisfactory terrain than when we lay it out in accordance with the rules; 2) 45 minutes is a perfect timing, I felt nervous throughout each game trying to do the right thing and not lose time; 3) I love Greek and Macedonian-type armies and was happy/lucky to get them in rounds 5 (Syracusan) and 6 (Macedonian); 4) Tom Whitehead is dead right. This is a community of decent people; 5) Mark is ace at this game.

Thanks all for the kind comments.
Was it Napoleon who said "Don't give me a good general give me a lucky one" ?
Well I certainly had my share of luck in terms of the armies I got to play in the match-ups and that combined with the sportsmanship of opponents who went for the win even if they felt they had the weakest army, meant I was fortunate to avoid the dreaded low scoring draws! And to be honest I can't really remember any particularly back luck on my part in games either.
As usual the games were played in a great spirit and all were really challenging and enjoyable. Though what Ken was doing being second from bottom in the seeding I do not know!
It was also nice to see our friends who'd made the trip from the south, especially Paul who's not been around for a while. Obviously, from his podium position, he's kept his hand in on the French DBA scene.
Looking forward to the next one and will be interesting to see how to changes to larger based 6mm figures on 3' square boards works.
In the meantime I'm looking forward to organising the next northern DBA event on the 25th March and, with my brother, thinking of how we can 'spice up the rounds a bit' (No that doesn't include making Baldie play in a Toga.... though now I think about it.......?
