Okay, so I want an excuse to paint this Donnington figure. LinkAn Arab Big Shot on a camel with a covered howdah. Pretty nifty, eh? I wanna build an army around it, but using only Donnington's Armies of Islam range since I rarely mix ranges within armies. I'm okay with this camel boss on a Cv (Gen) element. There are so few Cm (Gen) elements anyway, and the rest of the Donnington range does suggest a Tuareg army. Oh, and my good friend, Eric Donaldson, already has a III/54b Qaramita army, so that's out too. Ha, ha. Remaining options would seem to be: - III/33 Early Muslim North Africa & Sicily
- III/54a Dynastic Bedouin
- III/75 Islamic Berber
Which would be the best fit? Or have I omitted a still better option? --Does anyone even know the source for this figure?
Thanks!

Paul, Another option to consider, III/25b. The civil war between Caliph Ali and Aisha (656) – Battle of the Camel. Aisha could be considered spiritual leader for the rebel side. Her camel guarded by warriors on foot would make her a CP. If the figure is bearded, then add a veil.

The Camel General fits any of the three you suggested Paul, but I'll add a couple more... III/49 Tulunid or Iqshidid. III/50 Zanj. Donnington miniatures provide ample choice of figures for either army.😉

Her camel guarded by warriors on foot would make her a CP. If the figure is bearded, then add a veil. I think that's a splendid idea. I have an Arab Conquest army (Essex) and, while I don't normally mix other figures within an army, creating a "CP" vignette with a few Donnington figures would be a worthy exception. And I do always enjoy a good scenario game. This creates another problem, however. How can I order just 4-5 figures? No, of course not. Now I'm gonna have to look over their website to see what new army to order to "justify" the postage. Sigh.

I'm with you. And it seems to be an endless story. I order some fig for my army, with some more to justify the postage. But while the new project is waiting, i also find new/better figurine for it. Then i have to re order some, re find some more for the postage, find new ideas for my old "new project"... Endless story, but i'm still happy with it tbh ^^
