I think you've sold me on this as my next period. I haven't played with 3Bd before.. is it significantly different to play than the Iberian 3/4Aux army?
Faster than the 4Ax version and packs more punch than either; plus you get Hilly as the home terrain (and an Aggression of 0) which can make life tricky for either Romans or Carthaginians.

Maybe this could be in another thread, but as it is about the period you seem to have choosen, i'll put it here.
Here is the list of the armies i have in project, because they all have an interest in both the Punic wars and the different options an gameplays they provide. feel free to tell me if i'm wrong or if i miss something.
II/32a Later Carthaginian: The core. Versatile army with lot of options. Could be a bit hard, but enjoyable, to master (as a beginner) II/33 Polybian Roman: The Core, the army seem more straight forward, probably easier to lead. But with enough tactical option though
I/36b Sardinian: Enemy of both Carthage and Rome, it as 3x3Bw (which are the only Bw unit i've found for the punic war) II/5h Siciliot: Ally of Carthage, enemy of Rome, it's an hoplite army (7x or 8x 4Sp) II/9a Syracusan in Sicily: Ally of Carthage, enemy of Carthage and Rome, it has a disguised element, and an artillery. Another hoplite army (6-8x 4Sp) II/11 Gallics: Ally of Rome, enemy of Carthage and Rome, fun army imho, with 4wb or 3wb and chariots II/39a Iberian: Ally and enemy of both, not really strong army (mainly 4Ax), but it is quite an advantage for as i plan to fight against my children. Having some worst armies could help the game to be challenging. II/39b Celtiberian: Ally of Rome, enemy of both. Probably fun army due to the 3Bd II/39c Lusitanian: Ally of Carthage, enemy of both. Could be quite all Ps, which seems fun to play, and very hard to master. But will probably be my "main" against my children II/40 Numidian: ally of Rome, enemy of both. Lots of LH, and could have 1xEl
All of these would also give many possibilities for BBDBA, if i find players enough ofc ^^

Yes, highly recommend this one. Why ? (i'm new, and i'm always looking for future projects ^^) The Early Egyptians are all foot, but have a nice mix, don’t underestimate the horde. The Libyan have an option to field 6 x 3Ax or 5Hd; the latter are a blast to use. Terrain will play an interesting role; see here. dbagora.blogspot.com/2018/01/historical-match-up-old-kingdom_9.html
