Another week, another battle report. This time some HOTT. A centaur army with furies and a Chimera versus Gryphons supported by beasts, fauns and Cyclops. Pan was chosen but didn't arrive! Here is the setup: The aerials got to grips first and the furies were struggling until the archer centaurs (LH) arrived to hold the flank. In the centre, the lines clashed near the Gryphons base: After some to-and-fro, the Centaur lancers (Kn) broke through, took the camp and then surrounded the Cyclops for a narrow win. If nothing else, this showed I was woefully out of practice with HOTT, making several mistakes. The D3H2 does help keep it more similar to DBA 3 and allows the centaurs to have more variety in Kn/Cv/LH. It was fun to get these troops on the table. Hope you enjoy! Jim

Very nice Jim.
It’s a shame I can’t get my mates to try HoTT (although they are beginning to show an interest in my War of the Worlds Martians, my Giant Radioactive Ants, my Daleks, and my Kzinti sci-fi armies).

D3H2 can act as a good bridge. Just add 1 or 2 fantasy elements to a historical army and it's virtually the same game. Vikings with Valkyries, Greeks with Centaurs, etc.

Awesome, I love them! I'm a fan of Wells' novel, Welles' adaption and the Dan Verssen's strategic boardgame, for which I once made some fighting machines out of household stuff (wire, pearls etc.).

But I'm still curious: how does the great god Pan look like?

If you find 15mm Greek heroes let me know! I want the classical look like the art on the pottery. All I can find are spear armed and I want my heroes fighting with a sword!

Jim Jim will do, there’s a great range on from both black and red figure pottery but I get the heroic idea so probably black figure style will be more appropriate. I have seen that Alternative armies do a skelton with hoplon which would be perfect for an enemies of the argonauts and Magister do a magician sowing dragons teeth. I admit I’m still heavily influenced by the 1963 film - it is a fantasy army after all. just need to find a suitable figure for Talos the bronze giant.

I will admit to being slow to warm to HoTT, once I got there however I grew to love it almost as much as DBA. The ability to play fantasy and historical games is great.
I have fought against, ants, striking miners, lizard men, confederate troops, wood elves, aliens, Da Vinci's terror engines and many other nefarious types.
Looking forward to more games

It's from a 28mm range but would suit the theme of the movie. Talos the man of bronze
Alternatively, you could find something from Wargames Foundry The World of the GreeksCheers Jim
