Do you have some "centralized" documentation on the house rules for army list ? It's probably impossible to have all in one document, because every player could have his own alternate army list, but i think some could have find some consensus over the years one this forum. Hmmm…have a look and see if the following contains some of what you seek:- fanaticus.boards.net/thread/1146/house-rule-index?page=1 “House Rules” largely depend on each individual player’s personnel preferences… …what someone might like others may hate and reject out of hand (sometimes for no other reason than Phil Barker himself never thought of it).

I’m afraid I’m no expert on the Almogavars. My main source of info comes from here:- en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Almogavars#Historic_military_significance If this is correct, then they should be highly valued light fast foot that doesn’t mind fighting in bad going and using guerrilla ambushing tactics. That discounts 3Pk, who are penalized in such terrain, and there seems to be no evidence that they fought in deep columns… …so 3Bd it is (who can give nasty shocks to Knights on an equal score). The IV/61 Italian Condotta can have 3Bd Sword-and-buckler men… …so why can’t the Almogavars have the same? The IV/60 Catalan Company are really hard done by in the army lists. Half their army is supposed to be 4Ax, but with an aggression of 4 they’ll find their defending opponents deploying on a flat open billard table, with nowhere for them to hide in! Result?: suicide.

I agreed with you. In other rules: Adlg, Fog, and Triumph the almughavars are classed an equivalent of DBA 3Bd or 3Pk or both but with only One option available at the start of the Battle (all 3Bd or all 3Pk).

Rather than tinker with combat factors, using historical opponents is a better option. The list of enemies do bring some useful terrain possibilities. Besides, terrain selected must include BAD or ROUGH GOING pieces. Alan (Steppe) Rumanian Frank (Arable) Epirote Byzantine (Arable) Navarrese in Greece ( Hilly) Anatolian Turkoman (Arable or Littoral) Palaiologan Byzantine ( Littoral) Morean Byzantine ( Hilly) Ottoman (Arable) Italian Condotta ( Littoral or Arable) Do not overlook the effectiveness of an allied contingent for the Catalan.

Hmmm…not quite true Timurilank me old Dutch ( ). “Those chosen must include Bad or Rough Going or a River or Waterway.” Besides, a single ‘postage stamp’ sized bit of bad going, 1 BW x 1 BW, placed in some distant corner, ain’t much use to anyone. And if that Wkipeadia source is anything to go by, “The Almogavars were considered one of the best infantries of their era.” 4Ax… really?!…the WORST and most useless troop type in DBA!

But you have to remember that DBA hadn't been invented in the 13th and 14th century, stevie, so the Almogavars didn't realize how useless they were supposed to be.
