As mentioned on a previous thread, I will try to put up some battle reports. I'll try for 1 per week until Xmas. Firstly, Cyrus (Early Achaemenid Persia I/60b) invaded Kyrene in North Africa (Early Kyrenean Greek I/56a). The invasion occurred in spring and started at sunrise with the possibility of Strong Winds (Time and Weather variant on wiki). This could be a problem for the Persian archers. But it could also interfere with any Littoral sea landing by the Greeks, which would be a potential advantage given the Persian empire doesn't have the resources for a sea landing (sigh). Here are the starting positions: The Greeks didn't take the risk of a sea landing. Early PIPs were low and the mobile tower managed to take out the middle spear element. The wind kicked up suddenly but died away just as quick. Then the lines clashed. Initially, the Persians stood up but archery became ineffective and inevitably the spears overran the sparabara and destroy the centre So victory to the Kyreneans. A spear heavy army in its own territory is tough and 8Bw cannot handle it, compounded with the 2 element loss for the first 8Bw casualty. We've discussed this before on several occasions. Maybe in a future iteration they will get some punch. Hope you enjoy. Jim

Lovely figures Jim, nice terrain, and a good battle report. The only minor quibble is that I/60b Cyrus didn’t fight the I/56a Kyreneans, and nor did I/60a…in fact Cyrus the Great never even reached Egypt… …Cyrenaica was conquered by his successor Cambyses II in 525 BC. See:- static.wikia.nocookie.net/fanaticus-dba/images/c/c3/Army_List_Corrections_for_DBA_3.0.pdf/revision/latest?cb=20180124064046 (They don’t call me pedantic Stevie for nothing you know.. …actually they call me far worse than that… …but I’ll settle for pedantic Stevie )By the way, I don’t think I ever did add your Weather Rules to the Fanaticus Wiki. I’m a very naughty Stevie. E-mail ‘em to me again and I will do so.

Here is an interesting fun fact for those of you that are unaware of it.
Page 9 Threat Zones says:- “The area 1 BW deep in front of any edge of a War Wagon…” This is also graphically illustrated in Figure 7e.
So in Jim’s last picture, the Greek Hoplite to the left of the Mobile Tower (with its right front corner touching the Tower’s corner) will fall under the TZ influence of the War Wagon Tower if it tries to advance, and therefore is prevented from reaching the left Persian 8Bw to provide an overlap.
Also, since nobody is actually 'in' the WWg's multiple TZ's, the WWg is free to shoot at anyone they like (see page 10 Shooting for restrictions).
Little things like this may make ‘static’ WWg elements, that are unable to move into contact with an enemy, more useful.

Good points stevie. Getting the most out of the exotic units is certainly a good way to throw your opponent off balance.
