Please count me in Simon. Cheers Tom PS: does anyone have a hilly army that they would be willing to sell to me or let me borrow? I have several and it’ll only cost 10% of your score at Murgy’s Bazaar… 😝 P

Hello all. Please find below details of the tournament and let me know if you would like a place allocating to you. I have also e-mailed all the usual suspects.
I currently have the following people down to attend:
Baldie, Paul Murgatroyd, Ken Gordon, Mark Johnson, Phil Johnson, Stephen Finn, Tom Whitehead.
Details:
When & where - Medway Centre, Bakewell, Saturday 28 January 2023 0945 - 1645
Cost - approx £7 or £8 but awaiting new costs from the Medway Centre. Cake and tea/coffee included.
Tournament specifics:
• Any Hilly terrain Army Books I-4. Allies allowed. Same army components to be used throughout the day but RAW Dismounting rules are in play. 15mm basing i.e 40mm BW.
• Play with own army on odd rounds and opponents army on even rounds.
• Scoring system. 5 points for a win. Loser/draws get a point for each element they kill up to a maximum of 3 points according to rules scoring system, i.e. no points for Hordes, Scythed chariots and 2 points for general’s element and first double-based element destroyed. Ties at end of tournament will be resolved using sum of opponents’ scores.
• An element will count as uphill if any part of its front edge is on the hill and if a straight line drawn from the central point (conical hill) or the nearest point of the ridge line (ridged hill) to the centre of the combat passes through that element first. Hills will assumed to be conical unless defined as ridged by the owning player when placed., in which case the ridge must be defined.
• Terrain. Three quarters must each have a Difficult Hill in it with the largest dimension being at least 3BW across up to the usual RAW maximum. The fourth quarter may have an optional gentle hill, wood or hamlet. Two of the Difficult Hills must have a part of them no more than 4BW from the central point of the board. The Defender places the terrain as they wish following these requirements (i.e. no dicing for terrain quarters). The Attacker then numbers three consecutive sides each 1, 2, or 3 then the preferred side 4,5 and 6. The Attacker then dices to see which edge will be his/her home edge.
Cheers,
Simon

Of course I will… …where would poor old Simon be without Stevie… …the little ray of sunshine in his otherwise dull existence. Just don’t expect me to arrive on time. As I told you before: “I never come early, that’s what makes me such a great lover…”

I'm a fan of the 'peak high points' approach to the ruling of hills, meself... P. Many tears ago, about fifty I think, WRG brought out a blue coloured supplement to their ancient rules for Mediaeval armies. The interesting thing was stepped hills, which worked well, and clearly showed who was uphill, it has always interested me as to why it was dropped? Happy Xmas to all. David Constable
