That's what happened when a line of viking blades attacked uphill a group of irish auxilia. The vikings diced 0 against a 6 and got doubled! What?!

It is for exactly this reason I avoid spherical dice. Or the fabled D3692, or anything else with more faces.
D1000 max.

Yes, I think I'll better build a dicing tower. A dice cup covered with a coaster works well. Really! But my new green grass battle board (out of hdf) now puts an end to these surprises.
(But, oh, how I loved to beat the vikings!)

NO box...no box...nooooo...pleeaassssse...
Using boxes to roll dice was my downfall...which year? Aussie's Attempt at Revenge was when...2007
I won the tourny that Ian and his friends arranged for my visit 2 years prior......but kept the dice out of my hands 2 years later

Given the choice I’d sooner use a pack of cards instead of rolling a dice. (see fanaticus.boards.net/post/33487/ ) I like to use this method when playing solo testing new armies or trying out new tactics. After all, any battle plan or army will win if they have much better luck, and using cards in this way at least ensures that both sides will get the same number of ‘ 1’s’ and ‘ 6’s’…

Unbelievable Combat Results II: Headless ArmiesAt the moment I'm exercising my worthy troops for the ULM Tournament in November, and I keep on training them hard. In one battle happened a curious thing: both generals got killed in successive bounds! This struck me like a kind of déjà vue, for just a short time ago (in a remarkable DBA battle with yorkist, and the only one I won on that day ), had happened just the same. And our armies stood there almost frozen to the ground. At first I thought this would happen not so often. But when I think of two generals both on different wings and trying to use a shock and awe strategy to disrupt the enemies' shieldwall, but becoming somehow overlapped, then this might be not so rare at all. Now my question: does this happen quite often? What is your experience?

Now my question: does this happen quite often? What is your experience? Not very often, but I distinctly remember a tournament at Tarrington (last November?) where my first four games saw seven dead generals! So 2, 2, 2 and then just mine. I think I managed the next two games without killing or losing a commander….but it’s not that common. Then again, I lose more generals than many players, as I tend to send them in to work their magic, and then they keel over 😊
