Hello all, hope you are well.
I know I rant and rave about Covid, but I treat it seriously, unlike the government and NHS.
I tested positive for it today, now I got it from residents in the block of flats that I live in. The effects were the same as last year (or possibly the year before), at that point I was not tested, just had a phone conversation saying I did not have Covid.
This time I have been tested. One symptom you cannot miss is that in the last couple of weeks I have lost two stone without realizing it. Now if I had not taken basic precautions I could easily have passed it on by going to Bakewell or out.
Those of you watch cycling will have seen numbers of riders drop out of races because of Covid.
Please take care.

Glad to read your not too unwell with the ever present COVID.It does seem that everyone has sort of lifted the barriers and are behaving as they were before it struck.I must admit myself that I am not as cautious as I was, but still sanitize going into shops and do try to avoid proximity to other shoppers and still wear a mask when attending appointments. All of my close family members were struck by COVID back in May (we suspect due to a Grandchild being infected from school)...fortunately we got off mildly unlike two other family members who were lost at the hight of the Pandemic.Your post is a good prompt that there still is a level of danger and we all should still be more cautious.
Good health everyone and take care.

David Hope you make a full recovery. Glad you are now back in the land of the living in being able to get things done.
We have all become bit blase' about this pandemic, in part due to over exposure (and wishing it wasn't here) and the successful impact of the various vaccinations. But I am very thankful to the scientific community and the medial staff who pioneered this work. Its not infallible but its saving lives. Its certainly taken up large part of everyones' lives and ended many lives prematurely. Lets hope the latest surge doesn't over whelm the NHS staff and bed shortages that are no recurring. All the best to you David. And hopefully all those going to competitions currently will come home safely. CarlL

I tested positive for it today, now I got it from residents in the block of flats that I live in. My wife and I think we got it last month when we did an intercity train trip; crowd/gang of teenagers charging through the carriages. Pity after two and half years of dodging it but perhaps inevitable. Three days in bed and two lounging around; as observed by others rather like a bad flu, which is, of course, exactly what it is. The more awkward bit is the long-term apathy you risk catching. Lost some weight too, which was helpful!

To me loss of weight seems to be critical, two stone (12.7kg) might be high for youngsters but I think it might be a guide to if you have Covid. I suspect the government is avoiding a lockdown, but if it comes it might be longer and harder than previous. It will depend upon what they feel is an acceptable death and hospitalisation rate. David Constable I think that's the key point Dave. For the vast majority of people who have had the vaccine it's just like a bad cold/flu, so doesn't impact on hospitals and therefore it's not worth shutting down businesses and possibly trying to find yet more money from the stretched treasury coffers to pay people to stay at home. So I can't see another lockdown coming unless a more serious mutation comes along.
