Thanks to Simon for organising and running today - he is probably asleep now having had no sleep last night followed by organising today, playing and umpiring.
I enjoyed meeting some new opponents and in seeing Phil Steele back on the circuit.
Congratulations to Paddy - two tournament wins in a row now!

Another great day at Bakewell, thanks Simon. I got my usual outcome: 6 games, 3 outright wins, 3 outright defeats. I must mention my defeat against Rob Rush. Two Late Persian armies, both of exactly the same composition (2 x Sp, 3 x Cv, 3 x 4Ax, etc). First bound: both armies advanced. Second bound: the two lines clashed…and I got 4 elements doubled!...in a single combat round! There was no third bound. And this was like-against-like, Sp v Sp, Cv v Cv, Aux v Aux, etc. I defy anyone to have a quicker game than that! Still a great day, and I think only one of the other players battles ran out of time. Well done the Myers family (if you’re thinking of selling your dice, give me a call ).For a review of the “5 points for a win and 1 point for a kill for everyone else” scoring system, see:- fanaticus.boards.net/post/43081/

I should have added that the number after the players' names is just the number of times that that pair was used.

I have an interesting observation:- My II/11 Early Cisalpine Gauls (Chariots and 4Wb, aggression 3) defeated my II/33 Polybian Romans every single time they met, no matter who commanded them. Likewise, when I commanded the Galatians against ColintheHittites’ Antigonos Gonatas, it was the barbarian Warbands that prevailed over the Pikes. So much for those players that say Warbands are weak… (The name of this army always makes me laugh. “Do you suffer from Gonatas? Then try our new improved Anti-Gonos! Available as an easily applied cream from most chemist’s and pharmacies.”)

All hail Simon.
He made time to host ahead of the event. He ran an extremely smooth event, having had next to no sleep and played in it too - never easy. As far as possible games were allowed to play out, which made for a relaxed atmosphere.
Thank you.
Some excellent competitors, great army pairs and good weather.
Loved it.
Battle reports may follow.
