Hi Bill. It’s been a while… What are projected, planned, enforced finishing time(s) ? Thanks Book in at 12 noon. First game starts 12:30. Each of the first 4 games end at half past the hour. The fifth and final game starts after all 4th round games have ended (so soon after 4:30) and is played to completion, but you can concede if you need to depart early.

Thanks for running a very pleasant afternoon Bill. All I can say is that it's a game of luck skill. I took the very thematic Zanj revolt army and defended in all of my games, causing havoc with Littoral landings at every opportunity. It's a gamey mechanic, but it does make things entertaining regardless of whether the nominated troops are successful or not. In the first round I played Lindon's Christian Nubians who had bravely trekked to Iraq to offer my Zanj rebels the chance of eternal peace. In the end it was the Nubians who received eternal peace, but it was a close run thing. Second I was up against the dreaded Qaramita of Phil Barrington, but the dismounting was neutralised by some lucky terrain placement and littoral landing positioning. Thirdly, there was a Judaen People's Front/People's front of Judae moment with my Zanj playing colinthehittite's Zanj, made all the more hilarious by the fact that Colin had painted my army, and was using the exact same composition. Trying to remember who's blades were who's gave Colin the opportunity to enter the running for sportsman of the year when I hard flanked my own element, which he then pointed out and allowed me to correct, allowing me to win the game. Hats off to Mr. O'Shea. Last round of the group stages meant having a go at Paddy Myer's Hindu Indians. My first kill was nabbing the Elephant General with a Psiloi which should have made the rest of the game easy to win, but I made a bit of a fist of it. With time running out all of the combat was focused in the centre of the board, with blades trying to kill cavalry, psiloi and leaderless nellies - eventually we got a result. In the final I played one of my many nemeses cgothicus, with a second Qaramita army deploying as far away from the Euphrates canals as possible, with limited success. With some lucky pips early on I did my best to box Richard in, and a very tactical slog ensued. Ultimatley, my luck was better than my opponent's. Thanks to my opponents and everyone else who came along and made it a great day. Cheers all.

Theme will be something based around the European Crusades (i.e. Teutonic Knights and their enemies) in the 14th Century. I've just got to tidy up the exact list of armies with Mark S.
Date will probably be the first or second Saturday in December. We will need to check availability with Forgotten Veterans.

The Winter DBA theme will be The Armies of the East European Crusades in the 14th Century (1301-1400AD), basically everything from the Baltic to the Northern Balkans. I'll announce the full list at The Open but if you want to know if your favourite army is on the list, just email me.
Most likely date is Saturday December 3rd, but if the room at Ft Cumberland isn't available, the date will probably be December 10th.
