As per this thread, I have spoken with martin and the organiser's of Colours and volunteered to run a DBA themed tournament. The theme is Problematic Pachyderms. You must bring an army with at least one elephant in it, but the first elephant lost will count as two elements lost, or 3 if it's a General - rather like a double element, but without the corresponding combat bonus. My logic is that elephants that were trained for war and moved onto a battlefield would have taken up significantly more resources than a typical elements worth of fighting units, so their loss would have really hurt a commander. Especially if he was sat on one at the time. Given this event will take place at a show, I am planning on running a set of "group stages" games in the morning and perhaps early afternoon, with the winners of those going through to a semi final and a final. Those not qualifying for the last games will be welcome to watch, play their own games, or explore the rest of the show. I need to confirm timings with the show organisers, but I am anticipating: Registration 09.30-10.00 Round 1 10.00-10.50 Round 2 11.00-11.50 Round 3 12.00-12.50 Lunch 12.50-13.30 Round 4 13.30-14.20 Round 5 14.30-15.20 Round 6 15.30-16.20 Entry into the show is free, but I am considering charging a small fee to cover prizes and trophies. It won't be extortionate, and I'll post something once I've looked further into it. Based on the previous thread I can see there are a number of people interested. I am going to limit the numbers to 16 players, so please get in touch if you'd like a place. I already have: Diades Paddy649 martin Baldie colinthehittite berkeley Please get in touch if you are interested!

Excellent news, looking forward to it already. Perhaps those not going through to the final stages could be in a Plate competition as at the Welsh Open? A competition much loved by many and for the connoisseur a real treat.

I always appreciate a sound thrashing at an event based tourney as it means I get to have a good look round the show.

I like the idea of a good number of games (eg 3-4) for all, then some time visiting the show while the top four/finalists battle it out 👍🏼⚔️. Colours has always been a great trade show, and the venue is superb.

First show I went to I think, travelled up from Portsmouth when in the forces many moons ago. Bought craploads of 1/72 airfix naps with terrible paint jobs. They are prob still in the loft untouched.

If there are places available, can I nab one?
(Steve E to avoid any doubt)

Count me in too (and I expect a number of the PAWS mob would be interested too)
Quick question on which armies would be valid.
Would it be permissible to bring an army that can not have an Elephant option, but have an allied contingent with an Elephant?

No problemo Bill, this wouldn't give you any unfair advantage or disadvantage as far as I can see. Please let me know if any of the other Portsmouth crowd are interested.

Lindon Paxton, Peter Ellis and Paul Clair are definitely interested. I've not heard from Phil Barrington yet but he is usually interested if the others are.

Would love to attend, if there is still room. I would bring a critical mass of Elephants.
