Another day of DBA v3, using the forthcoming Frome DBA theme of ‘any Roman army, any enemy of Rome, any ally of Rome’….an enormous choice 😳.
Seven games played, of which my four were-
1. My Patrician Romans + Herul Allies defended against an Armenian invasion. The Heruls went amphibious, landed and were rapidly despatched by Armenian light horse. Elsewhere legionaries and archers fought off Armenian hillmen to snatch a 4-3 win, and a lucky one.
2. My Later Visigoths invaded vs Bosporans. Main feature of the game was the Visigothic general charging headlong into the enemy and pursuing relentlessly until surrounded and killed. 3-4g loss for the Visi…..
(advert in the Aquitaine Advertiser…..new king required, must be averse to charging. Apply within).
3. My recently rebased Polybians defended against an invasion by Sertorius and his Lusitanians (also newly painted), accompanied by a Roman ally. Sertorius concentrated against the Polybian right flank, and secured a 3g-1 win before the Polybian left could redeploy and intervene.
4. My Late Imperial Romans (West version) defended against Nomadic Pre-Islamic Arabs. A tight game where the wall of camelry caused a few scares, but in which the Roman Cataphractarii refused to be daunted and the Legionaries and Auxilia put of a stiff fight. A very close 4-3 win for Rome.
Also played between the other two guys-
- Early Imperial Romans defended against a Later Judaean attack, winning 3g (+2 x Hordes) to 2.
- Middle Imperial Romans invaded vs Celtiberian Spanish, but lost by 3g-0.
- Parthians attacked Hatra. The Parthian militia and Cataphracts ganged up on the Hatrene archers to secure a win (or so I’m told…I had to dash….).
