This year's SoA sponsored tournament is to take place on Saturday 5th March (registration 09:30-09:50; start at 10:00am), returning as part of the Hammerhead show at the Newark Showground. Entries are now open! This is a 15mm matched-pairs tournament, played with v3 rules, with all armies & set terrain provided. It will incorporate 6 rounds of games and the theme this year will be ‘Mediterranean Classics’. Can those who are interested in entering please either pay £12 directly by BACS (and email me to let me know that you've done this, so I can confirm your entry) to: Account name: P M Murgatroyd Account Number: 51460366 Sort Code: 40-22-24 Or send a cheque, along with their name, email and address details, to: Paul Murgatroyd, 9 Northfield Avenue, Sudbrooke, Lincolnshire, LN2 2FB This serves as an official tournament fee and includes entry to the show. Any questions, please feel free to email me on: pmmurgatroyd@icloud.com We have a ceiling of 20 entries maximum and, last year, places sold out in around three weeks, so don't delay… Further details of the Hammerhead Show can be found here: www.hammerheadshow.co.uk and our thanks go again to Kallistra for hosting us at their show and to Forged in Battle for providing the prizes. P.

Are there any other northern DBA events, please? Unfortunately, I cannot make the first weekend in March this year, otherwise I would enjoy following this Newark showground event. CarlL

The North is not well served by the DBA community, unfortunately, with the centre of gravity being more Midlands and South. Si Wilson does a good job with at least a couple of tournaments a year in Derbyshire (if you count that as the North 😉) and that’s about it…

…so is this thread going to be renamed -
“DBA not-particularly-Northern Cup 2022” ??
Otherwise it might trigger a misrepresentation of goods legal suit.

I blame Simon!
Presumably when the DBA Northern Cup was first set up it was so called because it was the most northerly DBA competition? Now Simon has come along and set up all these other competitions which are more northerly!!
Although as none of Simon's competitions have a cup as a trophy, perhaps Paul can still keep the title?
Except! the DBA Northern Cup isn't actually a cup it's more a tankard, so maybe a misrepresentation of goods legal suit is still on the cards??!!

And of course the June Bakewell Tournament is called the Midland Open even though further North than Northern Cup in Newark! Bakewell is 53.2152° N, 1.6762° W and Newark is 53.0987° N, 0.7680° W
Cheers Simon
