Yes remembering fallen friends and family members.
Grandfather on Mothers side was Royal navy. Fought in the Boxer Rebellion, Boer War and was wounded serving aboard ship in the Dardanelles during WW1. His son, my uncle served in the far east throughout WW2
Grandfather on my Fathers side served in the Royal Horse Artillery on the western front in WW1
Father served Royal Air Force WW2
My Wife's Grandfather flew in the Royal Flying Corp in WW1 and served in a ground post in the RAF in WW2.
Two friends, one lost in Northern Ireland and the other in the Falklands,
My limited contribution was 12 years Royal Air Force and witnessed a nasty scuffle outside the NAAFI in around 1987.
Certainly a time to remember and give thanks.

Cromwell: on a lighter note; my father had three brothers...the oldest joined the Navy, the second, the Marines; my father was in the Army's last draft of WWII, and the youngest went into the Air Force.Had there been an additional sibling I guess they'd have had to join the Coast Guard! Sheesh!

(Grandfather on Mothers side was Royal navy. Fought in the Boxer Rebellion, Boer War and was wounded serving aboard ship in the Dardanelles during WW1.)
With reference to above, according to my Mother every time the subject of my Grandfathers wound came up my Grandmother always said "It really brings tears to your eyes when your shot in the Dardanelles!" Prior to marrying my Grandfather she was a Music Hall comedienne and singer. Hence the wit!

(β¦or bayonetted up the Yangtse π³). My own forebears were RAF WW2 (Lancs)., and Welch Rgt WW1. The latter was gassed, and had lung conditions which affected him til the end of his days. Grateful for all of our ancestors who did their duty.

I always feel a little guilty saying I am a veteran, it was basically a decade long booze cruise.
