Yeah, I went to Partizan today, with my daughter’s fiancé. I’m trying to tempt him away from the grasp of Games Workshop and onto the virtuous path that is historical wargaming. 😀
It was a nice, enjoyable day out. I bought plenty of books and a few old rule sets. The show didn’t seem too busy but I suppose we gotta start things relatively slowly. FWIW the last wargames show I went to was also at Newark. That was Hammerhead, back in March 2020. Sooooooo long ago.
Anyhow, Partizan today was a nice, gentle show to ease my wallet back into the hobby. It’s always good to checkout figures in person, rather than risk mail order. It’s good to see the various demonstration games to see if there are any other rules sets/periods to there to tempt me. I would also have been tempted by a chip butty, but the lengthy queues for food & drinks meant we preferred browsing purchases & checking out games rather than loading up on calories.
Hammerhead is already “in my diary” - 5 March 2022.

The highlight for me was the Gaugamela battle with zillions of 60mm figures - elephants, chariots included. The rules were Simon Miller's To the Strongest - an excellent set played on a discreetly gridded table.
Cheers Simon

I went to Partizan moser e joyable I understand just over 1000 through the door the largest number of attendees since the move. Lots of top quality games and the Simon Millar game was impressive to say the least Only negative thing was the lack of masks being worn Graham
