Whenever I go shopping at the Lidl supermarket I always look out for stuff that might be useful for wargaming, such as artificial grass sheets as a table coving and furry grooved brown car mats for ploughed fields. Well Lidl is currently selling packs of ‘Wardrobe Fresheners’. There are 24 wooden blocks in a £1.49 packet, each being a cube ¾ of an inch (or just under 20mm) in size. These are useful for:- * temporarily mounting figures with gum or double-sided sticky tape for individual spraying and painting. * painted grey with a black gun slit they make decent WW2 pillboxes. * with more painting, and a suitably shaped cardboard roof, they make petty good peasant huts for hamlets, villages and cities. * for larger or multi-storey buildings just glue several of these together and on top each other. I’m currently making them into tall skyscrapers for my HoTT Cold War 1950’s American Army Stronghold for when they face my War Of The Worlds Martians and my Giant Radioactive Ants from the 1954 film “ Them!”. I’m pretty sure others could think of even more uses for these wooden blocks…

It would take more than a 3/4 inch block to freshen up my wardrobe!
Even the bloody moths have moved out.
