I'm working from the description of the Battle of Linqu 410AD where Liu Yu posted wagons covered in curtains(to protect from arrows and bow) defended by infantry on his flanks to counter the enemies superiority in Cavalry. This doesn't rule out that the wagons still contained cargo, only that they were covered to offer some protection to the defenders.I think it's down to the individual how they want to model these wagons as they could be full of supplies or be transported for the defending infantry.

The guy from Crom's Anvil (Angel Barracks) is a pretty crafty fellow, he makes awnings and rugs out of wet wipes that look quite effective.

DBMM list two wagon options (376-425 AD) for the Southern Dynasty.
Chained wagons or improvised war wagons. Upgrade wagons to ox-drawn wagons with pavise, large crossbow and archer.
It seems panels could be taken down to serve as pavise and possibly a roof, made of leather, could add extra protection. The horse or oxen (40mm x 40mm) could make room for additional archers/crossbowmen making it a lively element.

Curtain?
A ‘screen’ might be a better description of the protection afforded to the archers and crossbowmen, which fit bamboo/wicker panels and pavises.

@Lesp1964, Thank you for the assist as I too am not a member.
@ Haardrada, If I may suggest, there is enough space to add similar, but larger panels to either side of the cart. That would make an imposing piece with an archer behind each panel. Add flag to complete the look.

A good suggestion, but who makes them?I found some mantlets on the Donnington site but are they large enough?

Card stock scored to resemble planking might do. About the size of an Achaemenid Persian shield.
Another option, Magister Militum 28mm rectangular shield (SSH8) could be trimmed to size. No photo for SH1507, difficult to tell if this is Rus or Sumerian. Donnington EQ02 Medium Pavise, an idea?

I've done the card scoring stuff to provide my ACW army with a pontoon bridge.😁 Xyston do Persian mantlets which are large enough based on photos of their Persian infantry since Xyston figures are 18mm.lol www.scotiagrendel.com/Xyston/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=2_16_55&products_id=347
