I have just seen an announcement on Facebook saying that, for the time being, Khurasan will not be accepting UK orders for less than £135 worth of goods.

Wow! Group orders for you UK people perhaps?

I love Khurasan figures but they are pricey especially when you add in p&p plus the VAT and handling charge that HMRC and the Post Office apply.

I, too, am a big fan of their figures, but having had a serious hit from the Customs & Excise boys on my last big order from them, I would hesitate about putting in an order of that magnitude again.

Ouch. That's a sizable minimum order. If that's what Khurasan needs to stipulate to balance the cost of new UK VAT regulations and charges, then something has gone seriously wrong with the UK system.

It appears an ugly mess however you look at it.

It appears an ugly mess however you look at it. At least now you will know the charge when you buy the figures and not have to wait for the how f-ing much letter off the Royal Mail ( so hopefully the RM's handling fees will disappear ? ). From what i've seen the EU will be changing their VAT rules in July 2021 .

Wasn't it +40% or something like that?

It was 20% of the value plus £8 handling fee from Royal Mail. A complete rip off!

It was 20% of the value plus £8 handling fee from Royal Mail. A complete rip off! Twenty per cent would be the VAT, £8 is what Royal Mail charges for collecting the VAT from you and passing it to HMRC. However, larger orders might also be liable to customs duties as well as VAT - and, presumably, still are. Some good news though. A further post this morning suggests that Khurasan may be able to supply smaller orders if these are placed through e-bay. A test order is being sent today and we should have an idea whether or not this works in a week or so's time.

That sounds positive at least. I remember one time my Dad sent a gift to family in the UK (from Australia) only to learn that the recipients were charged 40% of the value due to VAT and something else. He wasn't thrilled.

It's a killer when it's a percentage (and a hefty one at that).

Apparently, there is a solution. If you want to place an order, e-mail Mr Khurasan for details of how to go about it.
