Well, why not? I am not sure whether DBA or HotT is suitable for any form of Sci-Fi, but no other than the most honourable Kaptain Kobold at the Stronghold seems quite fond of using the rules for that purpose.

As an engine, HOTT is very versatile. Hordes in the Trenches (HITT) works for WW1 and Hordes of the Empire (HOTE) for colonial. I've got some rudimentary ideas for Star Wars but just need to find the figures. I'd also need to cloak myself to avoid scrutiny from Disney!
Cheers

I seem to remember as a youth that someone released a box of 15mm or 20mm storm troopers and a pack of rebels. Cant think if they did any support stuff as I expect they were aimed more at role players.
Used to love the star wars role play game, medical droid with one level of medical skills and everything else in combat.

There are many versions: The Clone Wars or Star Wars Queen’s Gambit might be what you’re looking for. (I myself am thinking of getting this for HoTT:- houseofgeekery.com/2014/09/01/table-top-review-risk-the-dalek-invasion-of-earth/ ) EXTERMINATE!

Daleks v UNIT is something I've toyed with as well. But you'll need cybermen for a campaign!
I was planning to do SW in 6mm and picked up some good but expensive models from Shapeways specifically for Hoth. I may mount them on acrylic so they can serve in multiple theatres. I had seen some stuff from CinC to add infantry and characters. They were having some business issues but now seem to have downsized with the SciFi stuff still available so I better get some! Irregular has some possible contenders too! They also have 6mm Daleks...
Cheers

In picked up a copy of Dr Who Dalek Risk from Forbidden Planet in a sale a few years back. It has perfect figures for multiple HOTT Dalek armies in 15mm, 20-25mm and 28mm. They are also perfect vehicles to convert into other Dalek options including Heavy Weapons Dalek and Davros. Plus it has a TARDIS marker that will find a use with the opposing army. It’s still in the loft somewhere waiting for me to get round to it - I’ve got more than enough on my unpainted Lead Mountain.
If you look at the Stronghold Rebuilt site you can find Kaptain Kobald’s very inventive Dalek and UNIT armies. The UNIT one used Peter Pig figures and looks great!
I haven’t yet seen a way to do a Cyberman army - or indeed any other Dr Who themed army.

28mm Daleks are really easy to get hold of cheap.
I GM'd a game of VBCW where a Zeppelin crashed into Wosbrough mill, all the forces sent their best mechanic to take what they could.
Tmill was well ablaze when they got there and when smoke cleared the zeppelin turned out to be a space ship.
Obs the Daleks came from the ship, amazingly the forces managed to put aside years of bitter hatred and back stabbing to do the Daleks over.
Great game not that it helps the current conversation.

Well, for Orcs, a heavy warband/horde army would do. High elves could be medieval French or english armies. Byzantins would do too. For humans, I’d say it depends on what fantasy range you use and what fantasy world your army is set in (Middle earth, Westeros, the old world, ...).
Undead can be anything (my brother has classical and medieval armies using various 15mm squeletons 😁)

I have always thought that Byazantines are the perfect fit for Elves. A dying empire, tragic and decadence everywhere, standing against the storm, thinking of oneself as elites while being out-numbered and possibly out-classed by the new-comers. Plus the overall looks is probably the closest that one would get to Tolkien-esque elves.

I've considered using medieval Russians as elven cavalry before - same sort of vaguely Eastern look, but possibly even more ornate.

As mentioned you can use my D3H2 if you want fantasy with DBA 3.0 mechanics.
Next issues is whether you feel you can do fantasy troops within the DBX mechanics. You can go generic - Dwarves are Vikings so lots of Blades while Elves are either High Elves (Spears & Shooters) or Wood Elves (Fast Spear & Fast Shooter - so really Welsh). If these seem too generic you can try the solution we used in A Game of Knights & Knaves which was to allow the Elder races to use d8s rather than d6 to reflect enhanced combat abilities. You'll need a point system to balance but both D3H2 (which is free to DBA 3.0 owners) and Knights & Knaves has one. So you get small but powerful armies that have to be very careful about loses. A different feel for a different race.
