My wife ran across this picture of a Skythian archer, and noting his exciting hat and stylish romper, immediately remarked: "So why don't you have an army of these guys yet?" Guess I'd better start brushing up on my polka dot patterns...

"So why don't you have an army of these guys yet?" Because at my age there's no way I could paint those patterns in that fine a detail. On the other hand, I'm truely impressed that anyone has a wife that actually encourages you to go out and buy more figures!

The British Museum put on an exhibition about the Skythians in 2017. Quite amazing. Normally I would come away debating whether or not to get myself a X army - "X" being the theme of whatever it is I've just seen. This time I came away thinking, "there is no way I could ever do justice to those patterns".

Well, kaiphranos, that vase is bad enough, might not want to let her see this picture of a rather 'Scythian' looking 'Trojan' archer - www.ancient-origins.net/sites/default/files/Trojan-archer.jpg?itok=JlFDTtxuThose aren't 'polka dots' but small images of horses and riders and what appear to be cats. And then there are those those multi-colored geometric designs... P.S. While reasonably colorful, my Skyths are quite subdued in comparison.
