Hi all It's just been announced by the Hammerhead Show organising team that the dates for this show in 2021, and thus the associated DBA Northern Cup, will be moving back to Saturday 31st July. More details in due course - here's hoping, by then, we can get back to gaming face-to-face . P.

A quick update - the organisers are continuing to progress preparations for the Hammerhead show, so assuming the roadmap continues on-track, the DBA Northern Cup will hopefully still take place there at the end of July. My plan is to wait to see what the government do when the mid-May date for the next stage of lockdown comes around and then, if everything remains on track, I will open up entries at this stage. Watch this space!

Assuming that the Government continues with the planned roadmap out of lockdown and the Hammerhead Show does indeed go ahead, I can confirm that this year's SoA sponsored tournament is to take place on Saturday 31st July (registration 09:30-09:50; start at 10:00am), as part of the show at the Newark Showground. Entries are now open! This is a 15mm matched-pairs tournament, played with v3 rules, with all armies & set terrain provided. It will incorporate 6 rounds of games. The theme this year will be ‘Wars of the Four Gods’, initially set as a theme for 2024, but thanks to the pandemic, I’ve managed to complete the 20 armies ahead of time and so will crack on with this lot! Can those who are interested in entering please either pay £12 directly by BACS (and email me to let me know that you've done this, so I can confirm your entry) to: Account name: P M Murgatroyd Account Number: 51460366 Sort Code: 40-22-24 Or send a cheque, along with their name, email and address details, to: Paul Murgatroyd, 9 Northfield Avenue, Sudbrooke, Lincolnshire, LN2 2FB This serves as an official tournament fee and includes entry to the show. Any questions, please feel free to email me on: pmmurgatroyd@icloud.com We have a ceiling of 20 entries maximum and, last year, places sold out in around three weeks, so don't delay… Further details of the Hammerhead Show can be found here: www.hammerheadshow.co.uk and our thanks go again to Kallistra for hosting us at their show. Hi everyone
The latest update is that I have received notification from the Hammerhead organising team is that they are due to make a decision on the running of the show on the 15th June, the day after the government’s announcement on the final stage of the roadmap. If the show is cancelled, because of issues over the easing of lockdown measures for indoor events, it’s my intention to try and keep the tournament on, but look at an alternative venue with outdoors provision.
There are a number of venues in Newark, such as pubs, hotels, etc., which have outside, under-cover space, which hopefully would provide us with a suitable area to run the tournament. I’m looking into options at the moment, but will endeavour to keep the Northern Cup running on 31 July as best I can!
In the meantime, we’re up to 16 entries:
Frank Shaw Tom Dent-Spargo Stephen Finn Mark Skelton Martin Smith Mark Johnson Pete Duckworth Baldie Ian Pain Simon Wilson Richard Pulley Phil Steele Phil Johnson Colin O'Shea Denis Grey John Saunders
4 places max remain...

I’ve received the unsurprising news from Hammerhead today that they’ve cancelled the 2021 edition of the show and will now move it back to 5th March 2022.
However, the show must go on! So, I’m now on the case and will be contacting a few of the Newark venues with outdoor space to see if we can keep the Northern Cup running on the 31st July. I’ll be doing my very best to do so and hopefully will have a positive update for you all by the weekend.
In the meantime, we’re now at 15 entries, following the withdrawal of Pete Duckworth - his sister’s 70th is now on that day! We’ve still got 5 places available, if anyone else wants to join in the fun…
