Curious, anyone participating in the tournament Slitherine are about to start in a matter of hours? Seems to be well patronized for this type of computer game.
Been a while since I last played it and only against the AI, which I routinely trashed, so I'm expecting a rather steep learning curve playing against "People".
Added to that, my preparatory games against the evil AI with the armies from the first round have not gone well. Not well at all. Confidence levels shaky.

I played this a year or so back. Quite enjoyed it. But I mainly play Slitherines "Pike and Shot Campaigns". Really enjoy that. With the user downloads and modifications it now covers War of the Roses through to the late 19th century.

FoGII is a fine game, although the AI has significant limitations. Once you’ve played against a real opponent, there’s no going back... even if it does mean losing to Tony A on regular occasions 🤣😉

No, I didn’t go for it in the end, as I want sure how much time I’d be able to commit to it and how long it would all take. I’ll be interested to see your take on it in due course. P

Yep, playing against a real opponent face to face is a pleasure. Playing against a real opponent online is also a pleasure, except for the one who is not.
The AI is limited but at least it doesn't turtle.

Seems one of my opponents (baldrick52/Richard Yorke) has a YouTube channel and uploads his adventures in various games and covered the Rise and Fall of Carthage tournament.
So I was pleasantly surprised to find, perhaps, my best round of that tournament recorded for posterity and could relive the laughs and chuckles again in a more concentrated form, thank you baldrick52.
The take away from these games being Spanish Scutarii medium infantry impact can be very badass.

Who knew there were so many flavours of spearmen and all of them should fear dismounted Knights.

Watched the first video - quite interesting.
Will watch the second when have more time.
May pick it up, although I have the rules and a number of the army books and only played one game at the club before it fell out of favor...
P.S. Video could have used a bit higher resolution, althouth that might be my screen.

I wouldn’t care for it as a tabletop game, but as a computer game I find it works well. A shame that DBA has not found its way back into the computing world after the demise of DBAOL.. 😢 P
